2) What if I don't sell anything, but put advertisement on mod-related pages on other web-site?
3) What if I sell access to servers I host?
4) What if I only collect donations and don't sell anything?
It really is not a good point.Jarvisimo said:Actually, this brings up a good point. Why not? Surely having a mod one must pay for does no harm to Taleworlds? Yes, it's hugely impractical, but why would Taleworlds care? People still would have to buy the game for the mod to work.

Taleworlds, like most other creators, cares about what is associated with their work and who benefits how from it. Just as we dont allow modders to steal resources from others, taleworlds does not allow strangers to (financially) use their work without explicit permission.
That's ignoring all the possible legal implications that come with the proposed actions.
This. TaleWorlds reserves the right to take legal action against any commercialisation of any of its products, copyrighted material or trademarks without express permission. It's as simple as that.Duh said:It really is not a good point.Jarvisimo said:Actually, this brings up a good point. Why not? Surely having a mod one must pay for does no harm to Taleworlds? Partially. There is also a legal side of things that has to be considered, though you would have to investigate the specifics yourself as i lack the knowledge. Some time in the future the devs may (or may notJarvisimo said:So what you're saying is that Taleworlds wouldn't want corrupt money grabbing modders reflecting poorly on its own image?
Taleworlds isnt restricting commercialized youtube videos. Generally speaking the commercialization would encourage people to make videos and f.e. story based games could very well lose customers, if people would just watch it as a video rather than buy and play it themselves. These things are only policed on major sites such as youtube.Jarvisimo said:And as for youtube, what are the disadvantages to a games company of having youtubers make monetized videos? And how can it be policed with such a vast amount of video sharing sites?

The problem is that a lot of things that devs may say can be against some local laws, so if they, for example, try to legally pucnish me, it may happen that the biggest thing they can do against me is banning me from playing my legal M&B Warband copy. Or they can ignore a school kid earning 50 dollars, while is someone suddenly becomes a millionaire by selling his mod is VERY likely to summon their attention.Duh said:Partially.
