They took their name from one of their first warlords, Wilund the Bold - Valandion, in Calradic - and became known as the Vlandians. Their heavy cavalry, second to none, ran down the Emperor's foes from the Aserai wastes to the distant steppes. But the empire never had as much silver as it needed, and treasury officials soon learned that it could pay its mercenaries with land grants and titles. This was perhaps not the most far-sighted of policies. The Vlandians settled, married, planted farms, and built fortresses. It was not difficult, during the recent interregnum, for Osrac Iron-arm to declare himself king, independent in all but name. He seized the imperial capital of Baravenos and the lands along the coast, and that was how the west was lost to the empire.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/37

Khuzait cavalry should be better than Vlandian cavalry in my opinion.
Steppe people were the best horsemen in history(and not just horse archery).
Also it makes sense balance-wise too.
Cavalry is the only strongside of Khuzaits while Vlandians' other troops are also strong.

The European knight was the best heavy cavalry in the world at some point, steppe tribes did indeed have the best light cavalry, they did have some heavy cavalry as well, especially the Mongols, but you can't compare them with the European knight or the Sassanid cataphract.

No, Vlandians don't have other strong troops, their crossbows are weak and their infantry is average, the only good thing about them is their heavy cavalry and to be honest the Imperial cataphracts seem to be better that the Vlandian knights, which is a shame and some crazy people in this thread want the Vlandian cavalry to be nerfed?? FFS

Guys, the game it's not even released and you complain about Vlandians being OP? What's wrong with you lads? Historically speaking heavy cavalry was very effective and since Vlandians are inspired by Normans I don't see a problem with their cavalry being the best in the game. The Sturgians will have the best infantry, Battanians the best archers and so on. It's understandable that some factions will be stronger than others and it makes sense that Vlandians should be one of the strongest in the game.

We've seen:
1. Battanians vs Vlandians, field battle, (Battanians win)
2. Empire vs Vlandians, field battle, (Empire wins)
3. Sturgians vs Vlandians, siege battle, Vlandians the defenders, (Sturgians win)

How can this be op? Quite the opposite in fact.

But if they are rhodok ancestors too they are supposed to have the best siege archers too, also crossbow will be rarer. No idea if they will have the best pikemen too.

I don't think they will have pikes at all and their crossbowmen are weak, take a look at this video:

Normandy armor models could bring in for the Vladians.

I would really like to see some of the Vlandians having scale and lamellar armour over the chain mail, as some normans have historically. It would look just a little bit different from your average west European faction.

Aww was hoping for Sturgia

I swear to God they will never show them.   But then again I kinda feel Sturgians are more like Rus than scandinavian so prepare to be dissapointed.

This blog was good but instead of crossbowmen you should have shown med-high tier horsemen IMO.

For those who are new, Vlandian gameplay:

In the second video, i've seen some vlandian infantry with 2 handed swords and with javelins. Why do they have javelins? I hope in the single player game they won't have throwing weapons, a lot of times they use those throwing weapons as melee, and it sucks.

Why not? The AI doesn't use throwing weapons well in Warband but that shouldn't be a reason to not give them throwing weapons in Bannerlord.
Instead of removing a mechanic that doesn't work properly, why not improve the mechanic so as to make it work properly?
