But in level design, the word has a different meaning. There, a scene is more like a scene in a pen and paper roleplaying game, where the dungeon master defines the space (say, a tavern), the context (bustling with people because there’s a huge storm outside), and the most relevant information game-wise: where the exits and entries are, what the important NPCs are doing… The narrator doesn’t actually write what the characters are saying or will say: what they do is create a space full of possibilities to play with.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/88

Looks fantastic, well done all, cannot wait

So many well known franchise games are falling into the toilet (fallout 76) .. this will leave Bannerlords ALONE as quality game from a quality company ! Bannerlords will SHINE .

it's probably too late to ask. But it would be interesting to know about the intro. Will there be some brief history of Calradian in the beginning, a movie about the death of Arenic(the collapse of the empire) or something?

I don't think we're gonna be late at all for an opening.
We have been told that: “Yes, there will be in-game “cutscenes” that are similar to those in Warband.” Abdullah Nakipoğlu

I doubt very much that we can find a cinematic as an intro.

Well, a motion graphics opening that shows the magnificent art of Ilker Serdar Yildiz through illustrations that describe the context in Calradia so that the player knows what he is facing and a voiceover telling it "The horns sound, the ravens gather. An empire is torn by civil war. Beyond its borders, new kingdoms rise. Gird on your sword, don your armour, summon your followers and ride forth to win glory on the battlefields of Calradia. Establish your hegemony and create a new world out of the ashes of the old."... "forge your destiny" and insert the clip of the bannerlord burning forge logo, fused to black and home screen.
Would be very interesting on a par with realizable without much complication. Unless they already have something prepared in the shade. :shifty:

What Terco_Viejo saw is interesting. It's the same scene, with, more or less, the same things they presented in 2015. 3 years ago.
So they could as well present us nothing, as it's already done for a long time.

I'm a bit (well, more than a bit) worried to read, blog after blog, when people are asked "what your you working on, currently", that many (most?) people are saying "REworking X".
It feels like nothing is ever built, and that taleworlds is doing things again and again.

I can't say if it's for the best or not, but it does not bode well for ....well for a lot of things. The release date on top of that, of course.

i hope the season is not just an eye candy it need to have some impact. either affecting some production, food type, or giving effect to the army or in battle or maybe generating some events.

I think is just changed graphic scene, with no impact , but it looks pretty

in the old blogs they said that it affects something about the increase in food consumption of the army

The map is changed, not just by the activity of the player and NPCs but also by the passage of time. Changing seasons affect the weather and transform the landscape sending snow creeping south during winter. Significant gameplay effects, of the changing conditions, are felt in the effectiveness of different troop types. Cavalry and ranged units in particular will have a harder time in rain or snow. One major change from Warband is how time progresses; the yearly cycle has been shortened to twelve weeks, which adds more importance to the changing seasons and ageing of characters.

the 2nd coming of duke nukem 4ever

I'm really sorry to agree with you, this is starting to look a bit too bad.

Let's hope it's just bad PR.

I'm going to have to disagree with both of you and ask you two to reel in your pessimism.

First of all Bannerlord hasn't had anywhere near the ~15 year development time of Duke Nukem Forever, secondly, they haven't changed the main focus of the game nor seem to rely on some formulaic gimmick. It also didn't take 8 years for the first actual gameplay or in-game content to be released to the public.

I highly doubt Bannerlord will become another piece of vapourware like so many in the past, it will probably come out eventually one way or another.

May I also point out that Cyberpunk 2077 was announced before Bannerlord and it seems to be coming along fine.

I think it would be nice to have seasons spanning a few years, instead of months in a year. We've already established time will pass faster in Bonerlord, so in order to fully feel the (mainly economic) effects of season-changing, there should be longer seasons.

    2018: John Connor was born.
    2021: Cyberdyne developed artificial intelligence.
    2027: Skynet went online.
2031: Skynet became self-aware. War broke out.
    2033: Bannerlord Demo Released
2042: John Connor became the leader of the Resistance.
2044: Skynet decided to send a T-800 back in time to kill Taleworlds before the possibility of a Beta was born.
2048: John Connor sent Kyle Reese back in time to save Taleworlds
2051: Humanity Eliminated. Skynet takes over Bannerlord production for self amusement purposes
2081: Skynet stuck in infinite feedback loop ultimately blowing its primary fuse utterly destroying itself
    3002: *Crickets
3033: Bannerlord released. Some say delivered by a King wearing a thorn Crown

3033: Thorn Crown King sends Matthew McConaughey back in time to stop TaleWorlds from pissing off the Vampiric Archon Mind and attracting the vile notice of the Draconian Overlords from the 2nd Level of Compression. The world changes forever as TW commits victory through suicide by plunging the world into technological darkness so EVERYONE can play Bannerlord in real life.

the castle on top of that mountain looks somehow crooked.

Don't know whether it would count ( headcount / working hours etc ) but on such a location on top of a mountain ? Ev would make sense if just next to a pass but even then - why every castle must look rather the same and be big ?

Why not make more motte and bailey style stuff , or even a simple keep or Tower , with surrounding scene more of simple grange etc ?
