In this week’s blog, we want to take a look at Skirmish mode, which is a brand new multiplayer game mode for the upcoming Bannerlord...

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/103

For all the delays and how long it has taken I figured the beta testing would or had already been skipped. Every week i hope to see a release date. Besides that, good blog. I'm more into single player but this new mode looks like some fun. The last 3 blogs have been pretty good. I enjoy these more then the q/a that seem to be scripted.

Give me a beta invite and I'll never complain about anything except lack of Nords.

Also stop whining about the lack of single player beta, betas are for balancing. Single player campaigns take long and will also spoil the fun when the game arrives.

Callum, I hope you and the other team members at taleworlds think about the kind of people that will be participating in this closed beta. I'm sure that I am in a majority when I say that you should choose the right people for it. When I mean the right people I don't necessarily mean media outlets and well known youtubers. It is absolutely a good idea to include those for they boost the popularity of the upcoming game and exponentially grow the Mount & Blade community. However, what I mean is that you should include those of us who have put hundreds/thousands of hours into the Mount & Blade games (both the original and Warband) and have been waiting years for Bannerlord to come out.

but I still feel like limiting to 6v6 is trying too much to be like other competitive games and ignoring M&B's scale potential.

If you want 100v100 battles to be competitive its impossible. The unpredictable AI makes them unsuitable for competitive, while having to organize up to 100 people in an online game is a task not everyone is able to do, and extremely time consuming and probably stressful.

I think what he is trying to say, is that Bannerlord's new engine makes it capable of having more players than Warband and so he is questioning on why taleworlds (as of right now) is focusing on these small competitive arcade-like gamemodes when the absolute scale of Bannerlord (and the Mount & Blade games in general) are about those multi-hundred person battles and sieges for multiplayer which honestly is the main reason it got me into this series in the first place.

So, multiplayer closed beta in some shape or form in 2019? :fruity:

I think I'm pretty unlikely to get a key because of geographical incompatibility, but maybe you can use me as a high ping tester

Because theres a major section of the community that wants to play multiplayer competitively too. Not everything revolves around you.

Beta? Beta?!? BETA!?!?

This is great news, I cannot wait to play it (hopefully) sometime this year

And there are still people complaining ... damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess

P.S. I know that this will be a closed beta, so only certain people will get in, but will there be some way to sign up on the website? Or will people be specifically chosen?

I really don't envy the position that TW are in right now.
No matter the state that the game will be in at release and how they choose to release the game, there's no way it's going to live up to a lot of people's expectations.

Good golly the words 'Beta' have never before made me so giddy. I've been watching this game develop since it was announced, it's so relieving to finally have the chance to get a taste, even if it's only parts of the multiplayer!

With all this expression of excitement, I think some people have the impression we will be hearing details about the beta rather soon, whereas I suspect it may be months before more is said. Callum said there will be a number of future blogs on multiplayer; I would think that the beta details will be towards the end of that list of blogs, and no doubt all such blogs will be interspersed with the other types of blog- singleplayer features, dev interviews. This feels like an early heads up about something that is quite a way off in the future; it is, after all, mentioned only briefly at the end of the blog.

Closed beta, awesome. Somehow I was lucky enough to be in the first pick of beta testers for Warband (pretty much the only thing I ever won by lottery)...I can only hope I am so lucky again!
