This is something we have some experience with from our previous title, Mount & Blade: Warband, so we are fully aware of the value of including our community at this stage of development. Our preparations have been proceeding quite nicely and we thought it would be a good idea to share what we have been up to in this period.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/116

@Callum i have a question.
¿How could the beta invitation be? I mean, private Message? Mail to registered email? How?
I imagine nothing more tragic to any of us, than having the invitation somewhere and dont know of it existense haha

I guess I see what you mean. But if next weeks blog is about a single player feature like mentioned earlier, then I’m okay with it. You’re right that it was a small amount of information, but it’s offset by its importance in my opinion

I agree. For a while I've been of the opinion that you get more from the blogs by kind of "reading between the lines" than just reading the words on the page.
Of course, you have to be careful that you don't red too far, or else you get disappointed.

Cautious optimism is the name of this game, for sure!

+1
Until we find out, I guess I’ll have to check my Taleworlds messages, every email account I’ve ever made, my voicemail, and my AOL instant messenger just to make sure they didn’t send me an invite

Any info on how to apply for closed beta or just insight on the selection process would be appreciated  I am a professional software and game tester and played since M&B .63x something. I can dream

I believe that when Callum says that the game is far from feature/content complete, that he means the massive number of scenes (villages, towns, localized battlefield maps) are not fully finished. I seem to remember a quote from Armagan some time in the winter of 2017 or 2018 that only 20% or so of the map was even started. IMHO, I hope this is what he's referring to. When the whole map is hand crafted vs. randomly generated by algorithm, the scenes will just feel more real and lived in, whatever graphical pleasantries there may be.
I am excited to join in the open beta when the time comes, though the last game I beta tested ended up shutting down earlier this year. Much to my disappointment (Total War Arena). I am, however, currently satisfied to play Mordhau to scratch that itch, but I'm worried it's going to feel old and shallow by the time I get my hands on Bannerlord MP beta.
It has been such a long wait and I will miss "The Days of the Blog"... finding out that there's someone more interested in trees than myself and spending all that time digging for clues in released media and forum threads.
A toast , I propose... To the Taleworlds team and their long hours of daunting code and design... (Grown men in diapers? :ohdear:) ...Cheers, Prost, Salud and Şerefe!!! To the next step!

While I think you are right for the game overall, I'm not sure why Callum would reference SP in a blog that is clearly about MP only..

Good to see that Bannerlord has reached the point of early beta testing. I'm looking forward to getting the chance to see how far Mount and Blade has come since 2005 as the beta expands.

What throws me off is why theyre doing beta now if the game is "far from complete"? That leaves a few options:

1. Beta is actually far away.
2. We will have beta for a long time and possibly get burnt out (at least on combat and/or mp) before the full game even releases.
3. We will get beta for a time, and get cut off like a drug addict and have to wait for full release.

I think that sentence was best left out of the blog, or at least follow it up now seeing the confusion it created.

I'm very curious about how they're handling the selection of participants for this current phase of the beta.
Makes me wonder if there aren't some among us who got invited but can't tell us...

Show yourself.

Read between the lines a bit and you will see the criteria:
And that leads us to where we are right now! This week, we started inviting members of our community to participate in a closed beta. We think that at this stage, this is the most productive route to take, as it allows us to draw from their collective knowledge, understanding, and experience of our previous games, as well as, allowing us to show some appreciation for the continued passion and support that they have shown for our games over the years.

So they will have selected an arbitrarily limited number(whatever they thought they could handle) of players who they think possess the best of those qualities.
