This is something we have some experience with from our previous title, Mount & Blade: Warband, so we are fully aware of the value of including our community at this stage of development. Our preparations have been proceeding quite nicely and we thought it would be a good idea to share what we have been up to in this period.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/116

@Callum_Taleworlds you were always like a brother to me, you know that. And I am sure you fell the same. So as your spiritual brother
don't you think I should maybe be invited to join the BETA? Just maybe?

Get your hands off my brother, I am his long-lost brother! Get me, get me!

...it’s finally almost harvesting season!

I always knew that the first signs of harvesting season would come, but it feels better than I ever imagined to see those words!
I can’t say I’m not jealous of those invited to the beta already, but it makes sense to keep it small for now and with very active members of the community in order to ensure that you can receive the most consistent and constructive feedback possible.
That said, I can’t wait for my opportunity to jump in and make a fool of myself, all in the name of improving the experience for future players. I agree that single player is the true harvesting season, but this is a giant step in the right direction.
Congratulations are in order for the entire Taleworlds staff for achieving this milestone in development! Thanks for the good news, and keep up the good work, everyone!

Callum said on Discord that next week's blog will be about an SP feature, and he also mentioned that they can't give specifications on the hardware required to play the game because they haven't optimised the game yet: "no specs set in stone yet because we still have a lot of optimisation work to do (which generally happens towards the final stages of development)". That and the "far from feature and content complete" line lead me to believe that we will see a couple of Gamescom demos before any release, I hope I am wrong though

I uh, vote for me. Can help you test how high latency plays because I'm guessing there won't be Australian servers til release/close to.
This is amazing news, thanks Callum.

It's a whole devblog made out of single 'yeah, we're having closed beta' forum post. I'm impressed.

The screens are nice, definitely loving the family photo.

From the first couple of paragraphs I thought it was going to be a blog explaining why they had a friends & family beta. Good to see that try weren't worried about that leaked email thread :iamamoron:

Was everything in quotations said by Callum, including the bit in parentheses? Because that’s some very reassuring diction!

They are literally his words on Discord

Not sure about the quotes, but that is generally when optimization happens. Otherwise you'd have to re-do it every time you make any significant change.

Similar to why they don't implement all the features/techniques until they're sure they'll have time to bugfix and whatnot.

I'm inclined to think that they'll be aiming to get the Open Beta ready in time for Gamescom. That way, they can hand out access keys to people who try the game out there and bag a few potential new customers who might not have heard of M&B before.

If they're able to say, "If you liked what you played here, you can try more of the same when you get home," it's much better marketing than just saying, "If you liked what you played here, keep an eye on our forum for news and it'll be available to play at some point in the future...."

They've got to have a stable, fun playable version available for Gamescom anyway, otherwise there's no point in exhibiting it in the public area.

Oh, boy, Terco is gonna love this

I'm reallllllly hoping this means features/content is done/close, just hasn't been fully implemented yet...

That being said, the fact that the closed beta is live is excellent news! Let's hopetm this early part goes smoothly so we can get to the open beta/full release sooner.

That sentence must be understood making the same use of the temporal time space of the soon™. Are we close to the harvest?

"The game is far from feature and content complete, "

....scary words they are.

Oh well, looking forward to Gamescom 2019 and 2020 to get info about the game before it comes out...

Yeah, that makes total sense. I was just confused if he was conjecturing about it being in the latter stages of development because he mentioned optimization. But I’m happy to hear those were Callum very own words

Do you just sit at home making Bannerlord Forum memes for every conceivable situation that could arise? Either way, keep doing what you’re doing

What have I just seen... XDDD

Although, I think Callum knows that his love belongs to me :3

I hope modes other than 6v6 skirmish are included. I know those ESports clan guys play it because that's what they're into, but (if I could go out on a limb here) I think most would prefer big modes like Captain or Siege.
