Forcing the player to make conscious choices based on this creates an additional layer in the strategy aspect of the campaign and adds overall depth to the roleplay element of our games. Discerning between those who will offer support in times of need and those who are likely to cause issues is a relatively subtle part of our games, but those who pay close attention to their relationships and plan accordingly will often have an easier time when plotting their rise to power.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/43

I hope those are not the best graphics BL can offer, though, it looks clearly subpar compared to what we saw in the commander multiplayer video
They are highly compressed gifs.

Plus, it wouldn't be the first time they showed us BL in blogs without all the sprinkles on top. I imagine they show us fresh bits from versions they're currently testing, so I doubt they'd have all the graphical fidelity on it unless there's specifically focus on that.

Damn. So much work for such an unimportant feature and it still doesn't look right. Why taleworlds?
I strongly disagree with you. One of the many things Iv always wanted for Waraband is this, and bannerlord wouldnt feel complete without it. It gives good immersion, and makes it less boring

White Lion 说:
It's a nice feature but I think it needs some sort of balance, for example seeing some lord always happy when he sees me, even tho his castle is under siege or he just lost a important battle or a fief would be weird (in my opinion). It's a good addition but I think a NPC's facial animation should express his own struggles for power, for example if he wins battles and captures some city, then he will have a happy or smug face, if he lost a city/castle he will have a sad or angry face and of course your relationship with him should matter as well, but I think other factors should be taken in consideration as well.

Off Topic:
I've seen that Yaga has 5 troops behind him, 2 men and 3 women. I don't want to start WW3 but I hope the huge majority of warriors will be men, I just have a problem with women warriors(excluding companions), they kinda break my immersion.

A question for Özgür Saral - can we see some of the Bannerlord armours close up with front and back views like this old picture of yours from 2007?

COxQ8.jpg

This guy looks amazing.

They have talked about this.
There wont be any female troops (not even like Sword Sisters as in Warband if I got it right), instead they will more be seen as individuals, some companions, or one/two really good and strong leaders. It will be both cool and realistic imo. Most are not warriors at all, just farmers or else, while there are some individuals that are wiser and stronger than most men even(maybe not fysically)

This is true but if that unofficial site or team give away items then they know some information about what time the game will be released.
This is not the case. They don’t have access to exclusive information, and the giveaways are not supported by TaleWorlds. The group does not have access to any copies of the game, and participants of the giveaway are not entitled to a copy, as it is not endorsed by the company.

Edit: Anyway, let’s stick to the topic. I just wanted to clarify.

It is fine and thankies

Thanks for the blog! I do agree with the comments saying the expressions are too much or too exaggerated

guys what your opinion if bannerlord have water supply ? since i see there already food need but no drinkable need even though theres alcohol and other supposed to be drinkable liquid, playing in waste land or cold winter in some season may give some challenge or advantage and disadvantage.

also what you guys think about unit limit ? i think its unnecessary since its already hindered by need of food, movement speed, moral, wages the more ppl we have, while ai can have big army without limitation, why we cant have more troop than the limit if we have enough source to maintain it ? ( im kinda forgot is some of this is give impact though since its been long i play M&B )

in bannerlord can we own more productive enterprise in single town ? (i assume bannerlord have productive enterprise)

also i like some idea about horse breeding just like we can make our own weapon so it make mount and blade is part of it , im shocked that bannerlord dont have different type of mount other than normal horse example like camel, in long term i think it will give more flavour for cavalry with the different physic and some weapon shape and all that may have good chemistry or non depending of what type of mount they ride ( im not meant just camel or elephant but also different type of horse like in the khuzait topic of mongol horse the small pony or donkey horse) and also why bannerlord dont have dog like in viking conquest ? i dont mind if it not in battle but it can be useful in hunting maybe, would be nice if bannerlord have hunting or poaching animal too.

i also hope we can at least decorate our castle without need for mod

I know it was a little light this time around which some of you aren't too happy about, but you have to keep it in mind that these blogs are a weekly thing and we will talk about different aspects of the game over time. The point of these blogs isn't to build up hype or pitch the game to you, it is to show you a little bit more about our company and the game, our thought process when introducing or refining game features, and to give you an insight into game development in general. This was an area of the game that we thought we could improve and we wanted to add something which fits in with the sandbox gameplay in an unobtrusive way that doesn't become annoying or repetitive.

"Come back to Yaga, the forums miss you!"

I received a letter to the post office - the administrator wrote that they were waiting for me in a new blog. Thank you! I am very pleased that they remember me and are waiting on this wonderful forum!

Dear friends! Life is a complicated thing, and there are turns in it even steeper than in Bannerlord ...
I am very glad that I met you. I hope that my wishes and ideas helped improve the game we all like.
I do not know when I will be able to write to you all, but I'll try not to say goodbye to you always. I hope I can still tell the game developers something useful

Callum, thanks for the quick communication and communication!
Developers, thanks for reading my messages!
Friends, thank you for supporting my ideas and for communicating with you!
Armagan, I wish you to make an excellent game, so that millions of fans will love it!
I do not know if I can play in Bannerlord ...

Friends, I have very important and very complex changes in my life. Huge changes. But I'm many years old - I'm older than Armaghan. But I'm starting a new life. I hope so.

Guys, wish me luck! Thank you all!
I managed to fall in love with you, although I do not know English at all ...
I'll miss.

P.S. I'm very moved. Dear my developers, thank you for reviving my little viking!
No, I can not just walk away from you. I will try to come to you and, as far as possible, follow the development of the game.
I do not promise. But I will try.

Yaga, we want to thank you for your honest and enthusiastic feedback during your time here! It is a shame that you won't have as much time to spend with us anymore but we wish you all the best with your life and any challenges that come your way. We look forward to hearing from you again in the future.

Highlight of this blog for me:

Just as with much of the rest of the game, we designed the system to be as moddable as possible. Animations are initiated directly from the dialogue, so modders will be able to easily override the animations used in existing dialogues and use existing animations for any conversations they create. It will also be possible for them to add their own animations to the system which we think opens up a lot of fun possibilities!

It seems like Bannerlord will be more modding friendly than Mount & Blade and Warband with less hardcoded stuff.

Yeah the fact that we were promised an exciting new feature, and then given that...

I'm sorry, but where was that promised? I mean, we do have a few surprises to come, but I am certain I never said that you should expect an exciting new feature this week.

You must be really eager about Yaga's future if you posted this for second time

Started as an edit and ended up as a new post somehow :iamamoron:. It has been a long week!

Wow... just wow.

"Hmm, many of our fans have complained about how conversations feel stale and stiff... how should we solve this? We could add voices to the characters to immerse the player into the game and provide one of the most important parts of human connection... nah, screw that. Too much work! Let's just add animations to the dialogue screens that look ridiculous. It was already possible in Warband so 0 work required. Sounds good!"

This is getting downright insulting. This told us literally nothing about the game. All these years and the best idea for immersing the player in their interactions with other characters was to make them laugh like a serial killer when they complete a quest and put their hands on their hips when the player fails. Seriously, what is NEW here? I have yet to see anything that wasn't already made by small, sometimes 1 man modding teams YEARS ago.

You haven't fixed anything in terms of immersion besides graphics. No voice acting. RIDICULOUS combat animations (now ridiculous dialogue animations). Shields are still weird as hell (swords can cut right through them apparently, and they are magnetic when it comes to arrows). Armour is still useless - "Ah, you're wearing mail, a gambeson, and a tunic? My sword will take you out in two CUTS. Because my skills mean I don't care about physics!" Horses are still annoying beyond belief. Watch the gameplay videos from the "captain" mode, see how many times his horse weirdly stops or slows down as if it's a motor vehicle. Magical crosshairs. When I attack bandits I will still meet up with him face to face and both of us will go "I will kill you" and then we both walk like 100m away and then start fighting.

Honestly none of this is that hard to fix. Voice acting? Self explanatory. Combat animations? Realistic animations are EASIER than the ones you have now. Shields? Well you already had it in Warband such that a shield could still block an arrow even if you weren't right-clicking so why doesn't it work that way for melee weaponry? And just get rid of the shield forcefield. Armour? In Warband you had values for piercing, blunt, and cut soaking/reduction values. Why not have multiple of these for different types of armour? Why should armour boil down to a single number? Does leather not operate differently than metal or cloth or wool or linen? And if this is the case, bump up those values. Watching men in full mail armour getting cut down by a sword is ridiculous. Horses? How hard is it to make the horse redirect itself (considering it is, contrary to popular belief, a sentient being with a will to live and not slam into other objects unless necessary, and not a lifeless automobile)? Crosshairs? Make better animations for the bow so that you can actually tell where you're aiming without a big "you are aiming here" taking up your screen. Patronizing and removes any semblance of skill from aiming projectile weapons. Pre battle stuff? How about a screen pops up saying "You have come across (x)'s party. He (is aware of you/is unaware of you/appears to be attacking you/has ambushed you). (Prepare for battle!/Ambush attack!/Ambush defense!). Request parley with their commander. Attempt a retreat (-> Retreat regularly/Leave some men behind). Surrender." If you click parley, then the normal thing happens.

So disappointed.

Bustah you're lucky you're seventeen maybe you one day you can play this game, i'm 36, 37 in april and always nothing :ohdear:.

I almost didn't even post on this thread because the new blog was rather staid. I mean, we appreciate any new advances in core npc interactions. And somehow I am relieved that there is not going to be any voice acting (or a large amount of it), just because it's faithful to the series and because it will be easier to work around for modders. I do wish we had an Imperial Faction Blog, but I will still be here to look for it after the next blog. If the team is worried about running out of faction blogs long before the game comes out, then I think it safe to say the community would also appreciate minor faction blogs and perhaps greater details on new parts of the game such as the criminal gang elements.

Also, a Question for Özgür Saral: do cities ever change structures or certain decorations if a new faction takes over? For example, if a Battanian Lord took over an Imperial Town would parts of the town be altered to reflect its new owner? Such as celtic imagery, a desecration of sacred Imperial statues, or just new flags floating over the gate? Or severed heads in public, these are Battanians we are talking about.

It certainly isn’t anything special in the overall world of game design, but considering what mount & blade started as, you cannot deny that they are making progress.
M&B is deeper than RPG elements alone, so not having voice acting for the over 9000 or so dialogue options isn’t a huge issue.

I suspect we’ll have to wait for mods to get heads mounted on spikes over the city gates, but I like the idea.

PS some randomised code could occasionally switch one if the faces to that of the player as a dark omen or superstitious hallucination - you’d probably never notice unless you had a guilty conscience from sacking too many villages.

The chainmal at the helmet sides

It's just called mail. Chainmail is a faulty term since both 'chain' and 'mail' in this context mean the same thing. That's like saying 'the katana sword'.

Also the term wasn't used historically. In documents found it is referred to as maille.

Prolly not in the base game, but it is possible with mods. Nova Aetas did something similar in the Warband Engine (and a lot of stuff that I thought was utterly impossible).
