Forcing the player to make conscious choices based on this creates an additional layer in the strategy aspect of the campaign and adds overall depth to the roleplay element of our games. Discerning between those who will offer support in times of need and those who are likely to cause issues is a relatively subtle part of our games, but those who pay close attention to their relationships and plan accordingly will often have an easier time when plotting their rise to power.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/43

A question for Özgür Saral - can we see some of the Bannerlord armours close up with front and back views like this old picture of yours from 2007?

It's a nice feature but I think it needs some sort of balance, for example seeing some lord always happy when he sees me, even tho his castle is under siege or he just lost a important battle or a fief would be weird (in my opinion). It's a good addition but I think a NPC's facial animation should express his own struggles for power, for example if he wins battles and captures some city, then he will have a happy or smug face, if he lost a city/castle he will have a sad or angry face and of course your relationship with him should matter as well, but I think other factors should be taken in consideration as well.

Off Topic:
I've seen that Yaga has 5 troops behind him, 2 men and 3 women. I don't want to start WW3 but I hope the huge majority of warriors will be men, I just have a problem with women warriors(excluding companions), they kinda break my immersion.

You're right. But I think taleworlds know that its much better to please their community than change their game under the whim of SJW feminist nazis

To be honest , I was expecting the Empire blog with some information about the differences between the three empire factions.

I was also expecting the empire minor factions and in particular that of the Varangian mercenaries that would have given you the power to overcome all and reunite the Empire under your rule. Of Course some minor tribe of Patzinak mercenaries would complete the picture.

Yeah, looks like we got the short end of the blog stick. Oh well, better this than nothing.

Hopefully we'll get to see the Empire in all of its Byzantine glory after next week.

Highly appreciate these sort of immersion boosters. The more animations and especially being tied into dynamic behaviours -the more spice it adds to the game. Keeps things from getting 'samey'.

"Come back to Yaga, the forums miss you!"

I received a letter to the post office - the administrator wrote that they were waiting for me in a new blog. Thank you! I am very pleased that they remember me and are waiting on this wonderful forum!

Dear friends! Life is a complicated thing, and there are turns in it even steeper than in Bannerlord ...
I am very glad that I met you. I hope that my wishes and ideas helped improve the game we all like.
I do not know when I will be able to write to you all, but I'll try not to say goodbye to you always. I hope I can still tell the game developers something useful

Callum, thanks for the quick communication and communication!
Developers, thanks for reading my messages!

Friends, I have very important and very complex changes in my life. Huge changes. But I'm many years old - I'm older than Armaghan. But I'm starting a new life. I hope so.

Guys, wish me luck! Thank you all!
I managed to fall in love with you, although I do not know English at all ...
I'll miss.

P.S. I'm very moved. Dear my developers, thank you for reviving my little viking!
No, I can not just walk away from you. I will try to come to you and, as far as possible, follow the development of the game.
I do not promise. But I will try.

one more person did not wait for the game to be released

This is very touching. Although my account is new, I've been lurking on these forums for years and have read many of your posts Yaga; I laughed when I saw your cameo in the devblog and to read your response is very cathartic. I wish you all the best!

We've been told about this in an older blog but it's nice to be able to see gifs of it in action. I'm sure this will make for a much richer world and allow for some depth to character interaction beyond dialogue. This is the most negative feedback I've ever seen for a devblog. I understand that there are many features that the dev team want to keep hidden until release for a plethora of reasons but when exciting singleplayer features are promised in the previous week and then the devblog features information from a previous issue, people may get cross. Dare I say:

"The peasants are getting restless, if you continue, they may revolt."

I am slightly intrigued that this blog was posted several hours later than usual. Potentially to allow for gif upload time but then, the Cem blog (which featured 2 gifs), was posted without delay. Callum has proven his writing finesse in all blogs thus far, until now it seems. This article feels slightly rushed and as stated before, features old content. Perhaps there was a last minute decision to not reveal the features originally intended for the blog. Perhaps I'm grasping at imaginary straws. Perhaps Callum and the team want to properly showcase this feature that they've previously discussed. One thing is clear though, the community here, on steam and on reddit seem to like this blog least of all. Here's to next Thursday

I is dissapoint

It's like they flat out refuse to give us a blog about the empire. All factions have benn done except the empire.

I WANT THE EMPIRE!

Also these weekly blog post are mean they are closer to the release because they have more time to communicate and they can prepare the game to be released. Otherwise why there were 10 free copy of the game advertised on the steam and why they bothering to answer or make blogs?
Callum is responsible for the blogs - he's not a game developer, he's the community manager, so this is what he does. They don't necessarily take time off from development to work on the blogs as they are handled separately. The giveaway you're talking about is not affiliated with TaleWorlds - it is completely unofficial and unaffiliated.

This is true but if that unofficial site or team give away items then they know some information about what time the game will be released. Nearly around that time plus minus few weeks. Also I know Callum is a community manager not a dev and nice that he and the team take the time to inform us with something that's why I said in my quote what I said.

I don't know how many time it take them to give an interview but it is a sign of the release if they can do it more often these blogs. I am optimistic since I have other things to do so I can wait for my time here

The people behind that group have a reputation of being scammers, so I wouldn't get my hopes up for it.

So, a game which is developed for the past 6 years can now make the characters smile or appear angry. What an innovative thought!! This is a game-changing feature that surely deserves a blog entry. Or better yet, put it in the features list: "Characters can now smile or frown, like real people!! Duuuhhh"

Come on guys, it's 2018. I feel that my intelligence is mocked a bit with these blogs.

Where. Are. The. REAL. Features?

This is not the case. They don’t have access to exclusive information, and the giveaways are not supported by TaleWorlds. The group does not have access to any copies of the game, and participants of the giveaway are not entitled to a copy, as it is not endorsed by the company.

Edit: Anyway, let’s stick to the topic. I just wanted to clarify.

Well, small but fine blog entry.

A few notes that look odd and are certainly not or not completely influenced by any sort of image compression:
 • The chainmal at the helmet sides seems to be glued to the sholders of the soldier. Especially when he moves his head up, you can see how the texture stretches. Looks extremely strange, maybe some kind of texture offset if the animation plays could make it look less out of place without big effort
 • Light and shadow play in this scene looks really odd. This might be a bit due to the compression, however shadow will certainly not disappear because of that. If you look at any feet in the background touching the ground, there is not a single shadow that is cast onto the terrain.
It actually looks like some sort of preview version, certain aspects are not rendered maybe no shaders/postprocessing. If that is the case, it might be worth mentioning on the blog, could otherwise raise a bit of a negative appeal due to the bad looking graphics.

Yeah the fact that we were promised an exciting new feature, and then given that... which isn't new at all, is kind of disapointing. With all the hints given to us about a surprise and all got my hype really high. The delay in the blog made it even greater making me think «oh boy, this one's gonna be different»

I guess you just did not manage to do what you wanted in time. That happens, but please, stop hinting at exciting stuff if it's not exciting in the end :/ It just frustrate us more. I know you can't plan this kind of drawback in advance, but please try to not overhype. That is what makes people mad in here.

On a more positive note, I love what you did for yaga. The animation looks good too, maybe a bit overplayed, but it's nice to see that kind of immersion details are beeing worked on. And we'll always be able to mod some more subtle ones in anyways. The fact that the lord is accompanied is a really good thing too for immersion.
I hope those are not the best graphics BL can offer, though, it looks clearly subpar compared to what we saw in the commander multiplayer video
