However, in Bannerlord, battles aren’t a simple numbers game. With the right units and tactics, encounters that seem hopeless can be turned to your advantage. But, a wise commander wouldn’t throw away the lives of their troops as part of a learning experience; they would do everything in their power to increase their chances of success by improving their tactical knowhow.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/94

Question for next weeks audio blog:
How will battle music be handled? In the published footage the music fits perfectly into whats going on (brass enters when armies actually clash etc.)
Has the music been dubbed for the demos or is it actually ingame music, somehow scripted to fit so perfectly ?

and what do you suggest they discuss?
I suggest they talk about what they have been doing this past week. Things about the developement, what they are working on, like other game companies sometime do.
And for next blog I suggest they talk about how the team is fixing that aserai_town_a

The few times they have done that sort of thing, the incredulous complaints about it being boring and of no interest to anyone have only grown louder.

As for 'fixing' an insignificant placeholder name....it really doesn't matter, it can be edited to a proper name in little time at all, but they aren't going to worry about that sort of thing until all the systems and UI is exactly as they want it. Editing a name is literally the most simple and trivial thing they can have to sort out during development. It's more worrying that the UI they showed doesn't seem to allow for all of the choices they say we have to customise the battles (the weather), though that too shouldn't take too long.

Honestly, if they're looking for blog ideas, I'd be interested in hearing the specifics on why certain features were dropped, I.e. upgrading villages to castles or joining minor factions. I know they gave brief explanations, but I think a blog going into the behind-the-scenes on why these features had to be cut could give us a better idea of how the game will run, based on why these requested features just couldn't be included.

It does, and it's not just about editing a name. We can't remove the '_' on that kind of stuff, it's a bit more complicated and has to do with the programing code. And no, don't be so sure they will worry about it even when the UI is completed. I care about trivial things because it's trivial, it's simple, it's not challenging, and I know they have an history with that kind of writing.

I guess they did not worried about making a decent translation.

+1

It is those "little trivialities"...like this one.

'Nord invasion'

Please don't encourage DLC.

Nords are confirmed in the base game, alongside other mystery factions that are potentially out-of-map invaders. Resonant uploaded hour long footage where some newb played the game and had a brief look at the encyclopedia, where nords and two mystery factions were listed (the player didn't check these sections, as they were a newb who didn't know what to prioritize)

As far as I know they didn't personally do translations at all for any of their games, I think such things were left up to fans (I vaguely recall that some fans volunteered to do it for Taleworlds but I am really not confident of that) and you have my sympathy for that slight annoyance, but the English version had no such issues so it is not an issue with the game as a whole is it? It is a problem specific to translations- unfortunately the last time translations were raised I believe they had said that they were again not going to do translations themselves for Bannerlord, but it was a long time ago. When I talked about editing the name, I meant that Taleworlds would edit those names before release, not that players would do it. It would be very shoddy if they left stuff like that in the final game and I am quite sure that they will not do so as a rule (the odd example might slip through the net, but it won't be their policy to let such mistakes remain and it will be easy for them to remedy).

That bow error you link to isn't in the same category as a blatant placeholder name that they obviously don't intend to be in the 1.0 version of the game, is it? I agree that once pointed out (no doubt it is a glaring mistake to people knowledgeable about that type of bow, but I didn't notice it) it makes sense for them to change it.

I've been a supporter of M&B since the first installment was beta (0.45 or so), and I never post anything on the forums.
Until now.
The straw broke the camel's back. It's a new year, AFTER a release date was finally set, then pushed back, never to be announced again...
These developer posts are supposed to keep us updated and hyped on the state of development.
What did we get?
A feature. Two lines about a feature we ALL knew existed: custom battles. Some weeks before we got to talk about camera tweeks.
Seriously?

Patience is running thin. This is not the studio I've been an avid supporter of.

We need a release date.

Perhaps this little thing I made years ago will lift your spirits:

A release date was finally set, great. Can you give me a link please? Plus it being pushed back?
I would guess he's referring to the "available in some playable state in 2016" or whatever was said a few years ago.

Could you please give us the link? Looked for it but didn't find.

How about some HISTORIC reality in battles ????

Soldiers fight in formations and only know a limited number of moves ! They don't know - point n click. They don't know - drag n drop. Totalwar games are pathetic when it comes to controlling units, point n click all over the place. not historic.

Please keep with quality historic game play.
