However, in Bannerlord, battles aren’t a simple numbers game. With the right units and tactics, encounters that seem hopeless can be turned to your advantage. But, a wise commander wouldn’t throw away the lives of their troops as part of a learning experience; they would do everything in their power to increase their chances of success by improving their tactical knowhow.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/94

The screen looks great. I noticed the wall hitpoint bar. Could imply walls are fully destructible now as opposed to only merlons

This parameter probably reflects the amount of damage the siege scene had sufered during the initial pre-battle bombardment, where 100 is the best condition and a theoretical 0 is the worst.

Do you also have a feature to control the mixture of troops? like selecting 90% heavy infantry and 10% light infantry? Or 20% spearmen and 80% bezerkers?

The new thing that I got from this is that the maximum unit count per battle is 1000, which is the desirable number. Any higher and you would most likely just sit around and get tired of waiting for it to end.

It should also be more customizeable for modders in order to make their balancing easier, like someone else mentioned. Other than that, good blog.

Stupid dev blog again about something that only 1% of the gamers care about. The only time I ever used custom battle was when I played warband for the first time, and I never touched it again. This feature feels less like an actual gamemode and more like some leftover dev testing thing.

"Overall, we think that Custom Battle is both a fun and useful feature that players will find a number of different uses for."

And this is a guy who DOESN'T -insult snipped- on these forums, a very rare sight.

1000 still too small represents small medievil skirmishes we need up to 5000 at least

This game is not total war. Fighting with 5000 troops:
-does NOT work on any PC with independent A.I. for each unit
-Is simply undesirable and the battles will last up to hours

In Total war you can:
-Speed things up
-one A.I. controls a GROUP of units, not one, therefore, only in that kind of game it's possible.

The thought police has spotted a multipost violation. Also, please don't edit snipped insults back in - it won't help anyone. - Reus

The armor doesn't fit so well on the body, like if the armor is a for a taller and muscular guy, little bit weird.

Medieval chestplate was bumpier so that the swords would more easily be deflected, and upon penetration it would minimize the chance of getting your chest perforated.

A video of a custom battle would have been cool (includign setup).
technology hasn't reached that far yet, that would take tremendous work

...or perhaps you would like to test some different methods of assault against that Aserai castle which has been causing you some issues in the sandbox campaign...

I’m very pleased we can choose any single player town or castle as a custom siege map. However, the screen shows that these are selected by their scene names (i.e. aserai_town_a in the screenshot) as opposed to the actual town/castle names that players will recognise. Please correct this so the scenes can be selected by their town/castle names (i.e. Makeb) as opposed to scene filenames.

Given battles are now all handcrafted scenes in Bannerlord (random scenes in Warband), will all the single player battle scenes also be available as custom battle maps?

You can play as either the commander of an army or as a captain under the command of an AI leader.

Is it also possible to play a custom battle/siege without any command responsibilities, allowing players just to immerse themselves in the action? Without the single player campaign consequences of losing, it would be fun to forget strategy & tactics and practice personal combat in the thick of battle.

Talking About battles

At least to me those where the two biggest problems

1) Bandits being Friendly with each other as far as i know they should gladly kill anything that moves

2) The battles that the Player is Participating are ridiculously unfair by either you making a carnage or by having a equal sided battle of 200 vs 200 but you are allied with one side and have 50 soldiers but closely you see enemy reinforcements coming that numbers another 200 but you run faster join the battle and kill those 200 before the reinforcements come after that you go after those other 200 and kill them a battle that should've been insanely hard becomes absurdly easy because time freezes on battle(i would suggest that every battle should be timed having 24 or 48 minutes that each minute is an hour outside giving the chance to other troops join the battle)

Questions for Ugurcan Orcun:

1) Is Bannerlord getting any original soundtrack?
2) Are sound effects recorded by TaleWorlds or are them taken from some sort of repository?
3) It's been some time since we heard about voice acting in the single player campaign. Is it a thing yet? There will be any lipsync?
4) Can the player character voice be changed? If so, from how many options could the player pick? Can it be disabled?
