However, in Bannerlord, battles aren’t a simple numbers game. With the right units and tactics, encounters that seem hopeless can be turned to your advantage. But, a wise commander wouldn’t throw away the lives of their troops as part of a learning experience; they would do everything in their power to increase their chances of success by improving their tactical knowhow.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/94

my question for the next blog ^^

until now most videos we seen none of the sides were sounding like they are in the heat of battle. how immersive will the battles sound or how brutal will the soldiers sound when clashing. can we have hear a audio with both sides growling and yelling to feel like they are in a actual war.

or small example when they flee they make panic noises or panting.

or whats the most immersive sounds you personal think is in the game. or any sound that is still in development.

kind regards
VK

I kind of don't understand why we didn't get a video gameplay of a custom battle. After all, it's not hard at all to record. But who am I to talk.

Captain Lust was pretty..."laid back" with the blogs, essentially releasing them whenever he felt like it. Some of them were hot garbage just like this one, but I genuinely think that was a better schedule for Bannerlord than these enforced weekly installments. I can remember the majority of Lust's blogs and they used to get me excited for the game (Engine power sticks in my mind, as does the music blog and the one with Arnold Schwarzen***er in it), but the recent ones have been superficial glimpses at unfinished features, coupled with what amounts to speculation about the very game the blogs are about. People are still referencing lust's old blogs dating back to 2013, while I can hardly separate out the new weekly blogs in my head and can barely remember what most of them are about.
Call me nostalgic but I miss having themed blogs perhaps 3 months apart where I could read about a whole segment of the game and maybe even look at a video, and not be compelled to skim most of the text.

If we're at the point where a blog is just a self-explanatory screenshot and a long caption, I doubt Bannerlord has enough material to carry the blogs from now until release. I for one support having fewer blogs for both our sakes, otherwise we might end the year with a blog about fences.

Can't agree with this.

If you want more information less frequently, just wait 3 months and then read 12 blogs in one sitting. Or ignore them.

The problem isn't the amount of information, it's the quality of the information. I've read the engine power blog multiple times but I could read 50 of the newer blogs and be met with speculation and sub-par interviews with the same questions and answers. But that's beside the point. I simply don't think bannerlord has enough undisclosed information left in it for there to be another year's worth of interesting blogs.

In the June 2017 Gamestar gameplay along with the information provided by Murat Türe, custom battle mode was already implemented with 800 agents running at 60fps presumably stable. Now we are at 1000, that improvement is appreciated.

mX0T5Ou.jpg

However I went into conspiracy mode today due to the lack of "content" and I have been assaulted by a number of doubts when seeing the "screenshot"... I have taken the liberty of "editing" the image provided in the blog.
I find many similarities between the aserai_town_a map and the 2016 Battanian city siege defence map...
Apart from the interface and the improvement in the optimization (1000 agents in battle)...what's new? comparing it with the gameplay of Gamestar 2017... the possibility of siege? if you see the video, more options appear (plausible).

Fdlp.gif

Look at the silhouette of the horizon, at the mountains, at the light, at the wood of the palisade...Why does Ilker Serdar's illustration hide the miniature of the scene? You're not photoshopping the images, are you? That's my thing...

I'm a little perplexed by the inexplicable opacity in this "final" stages of development, I really can't understand it. On the other hand clarifying that I'm more of SP ... this custom battle if mixed with the captain MP mode would have much more interest than now has ... (personal oipinion).

The background on the custom battle screen isn't linked to the selected map. The plan is to have an image of the selected map in place of the artwork we have under the map selection right now.

We certainly have plenty of stuff left to talk about, don't worry about that. The problem is that we can't tailor the blogs to be interesting just for you every week. Some things that you find interesting, other people won't care about in the slightest (and vice versa).

When creating these blogs, we try to touch on different aspects of the game in a way that introduces people to a feature, but still leaves part of it for you to discover yourself.

I'd like to +1 the idea of having better control over troop composition in custom battles. Just an 'advanced settings' tab for each side, so if you want a quick action you can use the current system but if you really want to test stuff out then... well, you can.

I think they are messing with us at this point, custom battles ???

I know that for long time followers of our games, custom battle doesn't come as a surprise or big feature drop. However, sometimes we create these blogs for people who have never played our games before.

It was the most satisfying blog ever for me as I am custom battle lover.

*As some guys mentioned above, the idea of selecting unit types (heavy inf., light inf. ect) would be just great.

That's nice to hear, thanks!

As for selecting each individual troop type. We have something like that in there as a dev feature for testing purposes. I will forward the feedback and explain that people would like access to this. (I'm sure Abyss4M would like to see it included!)

You guys should really consider a custom battle demo! ...even if everything is already preset and cannot be changed! You'd shut us up for a while

Not happening. Because we never got the game in some form in 2017, and although there have been talks of some kind of beta for early 2019, probably still nothing is going to happen. A demo will fare the same fate.

I think you should change this for something similar to the selection troops of Total War games. In that way we can select which units we want to test, for example a battle between Vladian knights against Ulfhednar.

More or less, this'd be the only thing worthwhile in such a blog. What we have is 'Warband, but on bannerlord' and what we could've gotten is 'pick every unit' which would've been great.

'Warband, but in bannerlord' isn't really something worth writting about. This was the bare minimum.
They could at least have made it so that you could put in multiple lords/different faction alliances for more diverse battles. Empire+mercenaries VS a combined force of Sturgia+khuzaits or something or such.

FOR the Audio Director, Ugurcan Orcun:

Hello, I´d like know if bannerlord will include avanced audio options like surround, 5.1, bitrate etc.
Also, have you improve the quality of sound? for example, the screams of dying warriors, the wind throught vegetation, the flag waving, the sound of river, the sound of steps and the army´s noise movement (with their sound march)... Warband sometimes seems a little empty when you spawn in the battleground.
The last question I have is... will the dialogues be doubled to different languages?
I don´t know if this questions are suitable for the next blog. Anyway thanks and please: please shorten our pain and give us the release date. ;3
PD: sorry for my english.

Oh the PLAN...And why don't you show us something that's totally finished that interests both novices and veterans? I've seen a lot of repercussion with the conversational camera blog. :iamamoron:
Anyway, it's bad enough that you don't want to inform us "more" or that you want to inform us the way you're doing it... The comment of BIGGER Kentucky James XXL (of which I agree very much) cannot be improved...therefore until next Thursday my dudes...

Let me just say Callum that while the frustration is taken out on you because youre the voice of the company, we know the blogs are not your fault and you try your best.

But surely when you say “we cant tailor the blog to be interesting just for you” or “some blogs are targeted toward new players”, you do so realizing none of us believe those are the true reasons.

Please add option to restore previous custom battle settings!!

I normally randomize custom battle, then balance is for me. And I would like to take the battle again, maybe tune the difficulty up/down a bit.

And maybe "autobalance" button. The randomizer creates heavily unbalanced battles in Warband.

Not sure if this is gonna get a response but what is the chance of there ever being a "This is where we are at in development" Blog? Basically stating whats done and what needs to be done before Bannerlord releases.

Well it wasn't really necessary for explaining the features, was it? Words were enough. There would be no point to seeing it other than it being nice to see something a bit different and a new video to watch- which of course we'd all like to have, at least now and again. I don't think they have done more than put the occasional GIF in these weekly blogs. I don't record stuff myself but from what people say it often can take many hours to upload footage, so that theoretically might be why they don't do it with only a week between blogs...but to be frank, with Taleworlds I don't remember more than one video in all the blogs they've done (Engine Power) so I think not doing videos outside of games conventions is an entrenched policy with reasons I can only guess at.

Only thing worthwhile? Er, no. It's not even as important as some of the changes they've made in my opinion, though it would be welcome, particularly as I think the Warband selection tended to pick the high tier troops for Custom battle which often are they ugliest in terms of armour in my opinion- but then perhaps you are confused because you say it is 'Warband but on Bannerlord', as if there were no differences. No need to exaggerate and ignore simple facts. This was yet another underwhelming blog which hasn't excited me (I never expected anything more from these weekly blogs), but they have made improvements to the game in this respect and I was pleasantly surprised by one of them. Being able to choose the strength and tier of a castle and which siege engines are used it totally new, as is of course being able to choose whether to be the overall commander or a sergeant- they might easily have chosen to just do the barebones Warband version of Custom Battle and leave this new singleplayer feature out of Custom Battles. Being able to choose tactics of each side is inventive too (this is what pleasantly surprised me). And of course the much larger army sizes than we could reasonably use on Warband (though I think people are being a little hasty with saying it is up to 1000 battle size judging by the bars, to my eye it might be a bit lower).

I agree, I am afraid.

Question for Ugurcan Orcun:
Will we have adaptive music within the scene/word map in Bannerlord?

Tell us where you are in the development. Plz. Blog is only necessary for feedback in order to improve the game, but the major improvements will come after people have played the actual game.

Custom Battle has so much potential and it's good to see a large amount of customisation possible for players. Is it possible to export/use a campaign army in this mode? Is it possible to host multiplayer custom battles? I'm sure your combat and command AI is top notch but players can be crafty in ways the AI can't.

Honestly, I think if neither of the above features are in Custom Battle, you'll be really hurting replay-ability of this mode

...you said it yourself...it'd be nice to see something maybe at a new castle we haven't see yet ...and have a new video to watch. What's wrong with that? It's not like Callum only has Thursdays to record an upload a video. He has all week or all month since they obviously plan ahead for blogs.
