However, in Bannerlord, battles aren’t a simple numbers game. With the right units and tactics, encounters that seem hopeless can be turned to your advantage. But, a wise commander wouldn’t throw away the lives of their troops as part of a learning experience; they would do everything in their power to increase their chances of success by improving their tactical knowhow.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/94

Cool.

Would we be able to take a battle in a single player game and export its starting conditions? Allowing us to go outside of our sandbox and replay the battle with a different strategy, or with different troops, or just to share a battle with a friend, ie ('Well, if you take this battle file and put your archers on that hill, you'll see that you can win against Khergit Lancers...').

Heck, you could even come up with competitions, where people take a battle they fought and enjoyed and post it, and then people take the existing troops and see who can win the battle with the least losses, or in the shortest possible time.

WarBand is already 70 - 80 % realistic. Having soldiers to fight in formations with written units orders, like Napoleon by Dr Peter Turcan, would be perfection. "Control freaks" would hate it .... but once you learn the new system, you'll never go back.

Why would we want a completely unrealistic and unresponsive system in Bannerlord? Armies historically comparable with BL would not have issued written orders. The Napoleonic aide-de-camp system with messages passing orders to commanders is waaaay past the historical timeframe. Flags, horns, banners and shouting would be the primary communication form with the overall plan discussed and diffused through the 'officer' ranks before the battle.

Unless of course we assume that all the commanders of Calradia are all literate (Even the Battanians). How would that fit into your proposed system?

yeah, ok, whatever seems more historical, flags / banner waving / yelling ... DRUMS whatever. As long as it isn't point click drag-n-drop.

You're complaining about a UI abstraction which is essential if you even want a game to be playable. There are so many other unrealistic things in warband to worry about, including the entire core premise of the game. This is a game with health bars and weapon stats and you want to talk about how unrealistic it is to issue direct orders using the UI. Okay.

When Fbohler posts his idiotic strawman bait about realism fundamentalists I'm always convinced only 1 or 2 people on the forum are actually like that, and you're one of them.

Insults and baiting are not tolerated in the dev blog. I'm sure you know that but let's keep that down please. You do know better.

I have a bait for you, when you get it use it to fish! It's peaceful and very contemplative!
