However, in Bannerlord, battles aren’t a simple numbers game. With the right units and tactics, encounters that seem hopeless can be turned to your advantage. But, a wise commander wouldn’t throw away the lives of their troops as part of a learning experience; they would do everything in their power to increase their chances of success by improving their tactical knowhow.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/94

The option to forbid/unforbid certain tiers of troops [disallow/allow peasants for example] would compliment custom battles. Interesting how they changed custom battles from Warband.

I'm hoping that the selection of maps will be better than in Warband. I always found it strange how there were so many scenes from the campaign that could have been used and yet we only had access to a few ****ty, poorly balanced maps.
Would be nice to be able to select the maps from the campaign this time around.
I don't see why this couldn't/shouldn't be done.

Release custom battles !
pls

Some interesting findings:
1. The current army size for each side seems to be at 500 based on the proportion of the bar?
2. This screenshot is 4k, is this the first time we got 4k in-game screenshot?
3. The sally-out option. We only get to see one footage two years ago about it. It is quite interesting but how does it merge into siege play now?

Ok, so it's exactly the same as in Warband. We just get to be a captain, settlements have walls with health, siege engines, sally out, sides priority are new things.

Also 500 men per side seems to be default army size limit, not bad. I just fear my computer won't actually be bale to do that.

Will we be able to fight against all factions, including outlaws, mercenaries? Will we be able to actually choose the types of units, not just the ratio of cav to archers to infantry? Will we be able to choose every scene in the game or just 3 presets? Will modded factions and troops be available automatically or do they need to be specified in separate files to appear?

Custom Battles with actual, full control would be a great tool for modders to balance their games with rigorous and convenient testing.

@Ettencrocal

Good idea! Custom Battles demo would be nice.
Also, perfect avatar.

It would be very nice if you can set up these battles with friends online. Click which side you will fight on, what each person’s role will be, host chooses settings, and boom. But if it means more wait time for this game **** it singleplayer is most important.

100% agree with all of this.

Stupid dev blog again about something that only 1% of the gamers care about. The only time I ever used custom battle was when I played warband for the first time, and I never touched it again. This feature feels less like an actual gamemode and more like some leftover dev testing thing.

"Overall, we think that Custom Battle is both a fun and useful feature that players will find a number of different uses for."

And this is a guy who DOESN'T -insult snipped- on these forums, a very rare sight.

Custom Battle Mod for M&B 1 (before Warband) allowed to choose each troops so you could decide the infantry/archer/cavalry ration AND the tier among them. Very very useful for modding purpose, could get messy if you added more troop tiers in mods.
This seems just lets you to decide the class troop and not the tier like in vanilla Warband. In Warband you also had only 3 tier for class, you needed to mod to experiment the others.
