We have been reading comments and feedback and we noticed that quite a few people are interested in seeing some of the different screens and deeper parts of the game that are visible in the videos that are coming out from our guests at the booth. So with that in mind, for this week’s blog we thought we could show the character screen and explain the different elements of that and how character development works in Bannerlord.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/74

To gain skill points in any of the skills, you need to have made an initial investment of focus points, meaning that skills that are shown as level 0 and have no focus points invested in them cannot progress, no matter how much you practice them.

How many focus points do new characters start with? Hopefully, more than two.

I wonder if we can mod in downsides to poor choices in companion roles:
A rogue quartermaster skimming on supplies, reducing party morale due to poor food.
A lone companion getting wounded while scouting ahead.
Our surgeon drinking too much medicinal brandy for a steady hand.
A drill master sergeant who wounds too many troopers with punishment floggings.
An engineer who slows the party down with a siege baggage train.

This guy looks cool

Btw, I think that the new skill system is simple , yet brilliant. I totally love it.

One question ; why is it that all the youtube videos look bad ? However, in the screenshots or one of the gameplays I watched on twitch looked great. Is it just about youtube or the pc settings at the booth?

Not much we didn't already know from Gamescom. The only new information I can spot in here is being unable to progress a level 0 skill without having a focus point invested into it. Doesn't really look like an information worth an entire blog to me.

the UI has gone through so many changes at this point and i think, as a result, there are some disparate elements. for example, the skill icons themselves, the skill perks, and the icons at the bottom are all in unique styles. not to say it's distracting enough that the devs should change anything, but it is interesting to have followed development for so long you get to see these vestiges of abandoned evolutionary development

Here he has 27 spent focus points

Since he gets 2 for each level and since he is level 14 meaning he should have gotten atleast 26 skill points.

so assuming from here, he only started with 1 point.

Also we can notice that one handed costs 2 focus points to increase by one.

Meaning that I actually can not calculate how much he starts with. lol.

But , assuming that it starts costing 2 focus points after 2 points in one skill , meaning total of 34 points spent. I can assume that we start with 8.

Just with speculation that is.

But , looking at this screenshots ;

She should have gotten 8 points by leveling up.

With the same calculation as above she should have started with 9 points at level one.

So , this still does not make sense. Only thing I can assume is that it starts costing more focus points as you spend them. Does not matter the skill. It is a collective thing. And since it has not started costing 2 yet for her, we see that we start with 5 points.

So assuming that we start with 5 points , the guy in the first screenshot had 31 points total. and could only upgrade 27 times. Meaning that after 23 points spent , it starts costing 2 points.

I might have messed up my calculations here. its 2 am.

Come on guys. You can do better. Please post a playthrough with a voice over from one of the Devs explaining new concepts and features. It would be so easy and it wouldn't give away anything you weren't willing to show at Gamescom.

Please!

Thanks, right approach, wrong numbers. Ailjin has spent 13 focus points (diamonds under the skill squares) less the 8 from levelling up gives a player start of 5 focus points. Alagur has spent 27 points less 26 levelling up gives one focus point for an NPC start.

When you already knew what this was cause they even explained it in a interview . They just posted this blog just to waste time like per usual instead of posting a video or actual relative news that hasn’t been shown so far this Gamescom

Would it have killed ya to upload some decent gameplay from a dev?
This whole week is holiday in Turkey. I guess they could have pre-recorded.
