You see, in Captain Mode, there is actually a lot of cross-over with what you would expect from a single player battle. You have full control over your troops, meaning you can issue commands and change formations at will...Captain Mode aims to strike a balance between the individual skill-level of a player and their tactical prowess. This means that players that perhaps aren’t the best with the combat system in the game can still be highly effective in Captain Mode, purely through using superior strategy and tactics, and by effectively communicating with their teammates

I read this blog as an attempt to motivate single players to consider participating in the multiplayer beta. Clearly, from the negative SP comments already posted, none of them realise moaning is unlikely to earn a closed beta invite.

If that's their attempt at trying to lure us single players, then Callum is completely missing the point, why we refuse to play multiplayer in the first place. Perhaps I could maybe play a couple rounds a week even if I was getting trashed on by tryhards if not for the fact that:

1: The playerbase is toxic. Look at this thread https://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,384054.0.html
Half the thread is tryhard just yelling at each other about some guy named shin, shin also not acting in an appropriate manner.

2: In the same video posted by Alyss you can see in the duel video shin using feint glitching to try and win a duel. I am not playing with players who basically just glitch their way to victory, while tbagging your dead body and yelling in chat "git gud"

3:And if you try to gain any upper hand by going cavalry or archer you get vote kicked, half the time it passes because turns out half the servers are discord friends, don't care about newcomers trying to play the game, trying to keep a server for themselves, etc.

I doubt I'll venture into MP even though it will mean a longer wait to try Bannerlord. Doomed or not, it makes economic sense for TW to try to broaden its MP base. I presume the success of NW, despite it's lack of an SP mode, must in part be down to the reduced level of melee combat, levelling the playing field for new recruits.

Questions for next week's blog:

What kind of machine learning algorithms are used to train the AI agents in Bannerlord (e.g. Q-learning)?

3 levels of AI were mentioned in previous blogs; which level of AI was the most difficult to train/model?

+1

I have a pet theory about uniform porn mods and games. They are basically manly Sims for boys who like dressing up. Also something something latent homosexuality.
NW certainly wasn't popular for the gameplay, but its community made it a success.

So many peoples asking for co-op when it has been answered ten times...  They can't even release the normal game in 7 years and they keep asking about co-op campaign that is nearly impossible ???

I feel a similar disappointment with all of you here. I really don't know why the quality of these blogs have to be so hit or miss. One of my favorite was the global illumination one where we had just 2 minutes of footage. I watched that video more times than I can count. It does not take a lot to please us Taleworlds! Very short gifs and videos more consistently is all we ask for.

For those saying this is not new information that is only partially true. Also as Callum mentioned beta is drawing near so why not redip into some of the information?

"But for those of you who are unfamiliar with Captain Mode, allow us to give you an overview."
For the people complaining that this blog wasn't anything new: this blog was made for people who don't religiously follow blogs/information on Bannerlord, as the above quote, which was one of the first sentences from the blog, mentions! TaleWorlds doesn't owe you anything, so stop acting entitled. It's actually quite annoying to see these people complain every blog. We're already lucky that they give us a weekly blog(especially comparing to before they did weekly blogs), which is way above and beyond what most other developers bother with.

tldr: stop being toxic

Another game came out. Actors performance in 3 different languages (English, French and German), motion capture, lots of animations, facial scan, story driven, insane graphics, and it is from an indie company. "A Plague Tale Innocence".

And here you are, 8 years in developent to make a creepy stabbing animation with a couple of keyframes, and characters that say "GRRR" when angry. What you have to say? Oh oh my game has a lot of calculations, and we made our own engine blah blah, excuses. 2 + 2 = 4, and "If (this condition is True) Then Execute This Stuff, Else Execute This Other Stuff".

I thinks this "game" was reduced to weekly blogs. Its time to think: should we call Bannerlord a "videogame" or a "blog site"?
I literally require this to be satire - for my own sanity

If someone promise something, (be it an apple or a 2016 release) than he/she/it actually owes you. No one held a gun to their head to do so.

After years, people can feel like it was a pretty stupid thing to follow that carrot. Anger is just a reaction.

I wonder which will happen first, Bannerlord or Brexit?

I never played WB in mp but from the information we've been given over the years I certainly would like to give it a try. I hope their will be an open blog so us plebeians can follow the beta testing of mp.

I don't follow how being informed of a release equates to a promise and therefore a debt. What should be most important is good faith effort to produce the game. TW doesn't owe consumers anything, we have chosen to be along for the ride. If we are not obligated to them, how can they be to us. That being said, there is clear effort to show good faith in making something that will be well worth the wait.

A few questions for next week:

What are some of the problems (or solutions) you have faced when balancing the many factors that contribute to NPC attitudes towards other NPC's and the player?

How has the creation of a family tree affected other aspects of the game?

Have there been any recent additions to the game that have proven much more difficult to implement than they would seem?

As far as I can see, everyone's facing inwards apart from Callum, Duh & M.Arda:

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages!

Please, allow me to introduce you to a new member of the TaleWorlds team, Duh_TaleWorlds. Many of you will already know Duh from his community work here on the forums as a moderator, and for his contributions to the modding community as a member of the Floris mod team. Duh will be working alongside our community volunteer team and myself to help set up our new forums (which still don't have a release date... no surprise there eh!), as well as, preparing documentation for our modding tools, before eventually switching to a development-focused role. Don't panic though, I am sure he will still be an active forumite after he makes the switch!

I would also like to take this opportunity to belatedly welcome Mehmet Arda (M.ArdA_TaleWorlds) Gündüz to our community team. Arda is a long time community member who was invited to join the company after a successful internship here at TaleWorlds. Arda is our first (and hopefully not the last!) team member that is dedicated entirely to user support. You have most likely seen him offering help here on the forums already, and if you sent us a support mail in the past few months then hopefully he managed to fix the issue for you!

We are confident that these additions to our team will help to foster a closer relationship between the community and our company in the coming months, and will hopefully serve as a solid foundation for us to build on for Bannerlord.

If things are getting closer, Callum/PR’s workload will be increasing:

1. Finalising the new website
2. Filtering and organising closed beta feedback
3. Replacing the current forum
4. Preparing a user guide/manual for the game
5. Resolving issues re multi-player servers, hosting etc.
6. Preparing the promised modding manual, asset workflows and guides for the various editors and modding tools.
7. etc.

Somehow I doubt that Callum, M.ArdA and Duh are twiddling their thumbs. Presumably it is a sign of the pressure they are working under that the weekly blogs are being published later and later each Thursday.

...As NPC99 pointed out, there are actually quite a few things we are working on for the community behind the scenes, and in time I hope that everyone will benefit from that work. This company survived for so long without any proper structure or systems in place in regards to the community, and now we are playing catch up on that. It may take a little time, but it is essential that we get as much of it right now in time for the massive influx of community members that we predict Bannerlord will bring.

The current situation is far from ideal, I admit to that. However, please use what is left of your patience and bear with us while we finish what is shaping up to be an amazing game.
Hm. Well I guess ya showed me then huh bootlicker?

That wasn't the purpose. I post as I see things, but you're free to believe whatever BS makes you happy.
