Their hilltop fortresses have born witness to countless wars fought to resist outside invaders: first the Empire's legions, and more recently the rising Sturgian and Vlandian kingdoms. They are masters of the longbow, the night raid, the sudden wild charge out of the woods. They idolise valour, but especially like it when mixed with a bit of mischief - the cattle thief who can whisk an entire herd into the fog; the champion who dines with a rival tribe, and, regaling his hosts with an anecdote of battle, produces from his bag the skull of one of their kinsmen that he took as a souvenir.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/30

Wow, would you imagine if minor factions worked also as secret societies that reward the player with ranks and benefits that would result in more influence should the player perform any kind of task for them such as recruit new members or destroy rival minor factions(*WINKING INTENSIFIES*)?

I want to say that i am delighted to see how deep is the development on factions. I love the fact that the Battanian leader has his own personality and I can't wait to experience it first hand when the game arrives. I do hope in some memorable lines from all the leaders. I also really like the fact that each faction has minor sub-factions/Clans among them. I hope there are factions who do not really care about the throne and they are individual traders/raiders/mercenaries but also invading small factions. (Nord invasion, anyone?)

This is something I'd really like to see as well, as it brings more diversity and possibilities for interacting on the map.
Do you advert to the Warband mod "NordInvasion"?

Thanks for the Blog. I really like the content of this weeks Blog

It's really refreshing to see the depth of the Lore. I believe they are doing a good and elaborate job on this aspect of the game as well. Which probably means that the campaign story won't be boring but instead it will be well worth studying... .

I have ONE simple but IMPORTANT question. Will the physics be hardcore realistic, or we can have a bit of superheroish ragdoll physics fun as well? I will really be dissapointed if i can't do anymore the courser horse huge jumps midair throwing axe headshots, and the ala-Morpheus limousine busting horse cutting/trailing for several feet with two handed swords tricks. Or the super powered arrows that used to throw enemies back.
Cause ya know, you can't have a character with 10 strength and a character with 100 stregth and their sword swing produce same effect on the physical level.

More news on the minor faction is great! So I'm guessing each major faction has a single minor faction at the start, and then depending how it all develops they'll be able to change alliance, and maybe disband or stay neutral? Maybe even some additional minor factions that start off neutral to everyone? What about being able to make your own minor faction? Eitherway it's looking great!

Also the idea of the rulers having a personality that defines them is awesome, kinda like the whole King Harlaus and feast thing but this time it's lore-wise planned. So Caladog would probably be the kind of leader to send you on a spy/covert mission on an enemy city and reward you greatly for stealing all their cattle    The meme potential seems great, I'm so looking forward to the rest of the leaders and all the lore, plus all the stories and memes people will make with them

EDIT:
So I'm not that good at reading, the blog said "One of the Battanian minor factions is the Wolfskins", so there's gonna be more? :O Now that's sweet, a small issue for me was that Warband kind of "fell short" in factions in general, Bannerlord will make it so much more diverse and complex! Relationships between factions, massive wars between big varied armies of different clans. It's beautiful

As far as I remember, minor factions have been confirmed to exist in multiple groups inside one faction. Precisely there's an interview that they use it as an example. There was a vendetta between 2 minor factions that both belonged to one nation (big faction). I cant recall the source though, but I am sure this has been mentioned.

Even thinking over how ****ing awesome will it be to conspire against one of the vassals as a subject of another vassal is making me hyped.
-Working for the minör faction A
-Wearing minör faction B's banner and raiding one of kings village
-Minor faction B is ****ed.
-Marshall of the minör faction A promotes you to a higher rank Marshall assistant or sth like that.

These minör factions will probably be loyal families of that faction. There will be 3 loyal families in all factions one of them being the kings family and other two vassal families.
Vassal kings will try to make their daughters marry with the kings ugly son
and there will be game of thrones stuff going on between families the will hire assassins and kill each others daughters or heirs.
They will give you missions to ambush the heir of minör faction B's heir but he is a tough nut because his soldiers are knights.
Player must be careful if the heir is loved so much by the people of the faction his reputation will be ****ed and everyone will want you dead or even riot to king and king will execute you.If he is hated everyone will like you.

Nice post btw.

What are we doing as a community to celebrate bannerlords birthday ?!? Please answer btw anyone I need ideas

I think it is great having a celtic-like faction as the Battanian in that game. I just think their helmet is a bit too much roman-ish (that is kind of understandable, because some celts, like Brythonnics, had been influenced by the romans). There is no exemple of irish and pict helmet (the carved stones shows warriors going bareheaded). Their swords look like they have some germanic influence in the design.
They apparently share the same locations as the Vaegir from Warband, so I initially expected thew were more slavic. Those people had nice looking helmets.

But I entirely respect the choices of the developpers. Bannerlord is fantasy setting, after all, and the informations they provided are great.

Look at the map overview here

https://www.google.rs/search?q=mount+and+blade+bannerlord+map&oq=mount+and+blade+bannerlord+map&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l3.8217j0j4&client=ms-android-huawei&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#imgrc=Dd51ALy5MaP0xM:

they do NOT share location as Vaegirs, as Vaegirs are northeast, and in Bannerlord all of vaegir+nord lands are under Sturgians, and Battanians are just central north, even a bit west, on the same place where in Warband were 2 swadian and 1 nord vilage. So im guessing they are autohtonous, and have no ties to the nords, nor vaegirs, but they were assimilated and vanished after the events of Bannerlord.

Awesome blog. Now I'm wondering how the falxmen that we saw at E3's multiplayer showings fit into the faction. It seems like Battania overall is heavily Celt-influenced, so I wonder if one of the minor factions, perhaps the Wolfskins or some other group, take more inspiration from Dacian/Thracian tribes or maybe even the Slavs.

I think I'm probably more interested in the 'minor' factions and independent/mercenary groups than the major kingdoms!
I really hope there is big scope to play a suitably rich career outside of the main factions.
In Warband it had a pretty limited appeal and replay-value - that's not a criticism of Warband as such, but I'd love to see how it is expanded upon.

One thing the blog mentions is that Bannerlord is a "Low Fantasy" game, please tell me there's no magic or monsters in this!

a "Low Fantasy" game,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_fantasy

VC was a interesting example. It kept references to magic, gods, legends, ghosts, etc, but on a realistic way

go visit the ruins that are supposed to be hunted by ghosts, and you will be attacked by humans using cover and ambush to take you by surprise
visit the troll bridge to find yourself facing against a man that is just bigger than normal people (think everyone being about 1.70m, and the "troll" being 2m). He is also quite strong and has a weapon that a normal player would have trouble using (high stats in STR)
make a sacrifice - by killing someone - to the gods and you get a stat bonus. The character is not sure what or why it happens, so the player also stays in the dark if it was magic or just a trick of the mind

You can use stuff like that to create a supernatural feeling without going high fantasy. They can use lore to scare people from going near the wolves base, and so on.

The battanian artwork doesn't look like the in game battanians, is that normal ?

What do you mean? They look the same, minus the guy in front who, I guess, is their leader or an important person.
