But, it is Thursday my dudes and the show must go on... Instead, in this week’s blog, we will talk about how we approach game design here at TaleWorlds, giving you a brief insight into the general process of taking an idea and turning it into a game feature.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/82

Nymeris, please don't feed the conflict. You just as anyone else will be warned for insulting others. Be it direct or implied (assuming we don't consider it jest/banter between friends).

We like to give people a chance. An individual offender is a much smaller problem than inconsistent rules or enforcement. Especially because repeat offenders are eventually removed. So I do recommend you reconsider your approach to the forums.

Edith: Consistent enforcement does not imply that all cases will always be handled exactly the same. We don't want a one-size-fits-all approach. Context and user history matter. This means that moderaters can make judgement calls from case to case and user to user. A serial offender may see a mute or ban where another user may just see a warning. Both cases, however, will see a moderation response even if it is not always visible (internal discussion and reaching out to a user via PM) - assuming they have been reported or spotted.

I think it is important to quote these if someone here didn't see them which are about release date. New to old in order.

Our blogs aim to touch on many different things and we know that sometimes they might not be as exciting or groundbreaking as some of you would hope. The blogs are aimed at a wide variety of readers: many of you are existing community members who have a fairly good understanding of what to expect from the game, however, sometimes (like with the weapon overview blogs) we will try to introduce people who are new to our games to different aspects of Bannerlord to give them a better understanding of what Mount & Blade is and what they can expect from the game.

We went from an extended period of silence to weekly updates (which is a pretty huge step!). This gives us a chance to talk about a range of topics, both big and small, but most importantly, on a regular basis. The aim was (and still is) to engage with you all and present topics of discussion about the game which you could look at and leave your feedback on (which we definitely take into account).

Sometimes we will talk about new features or improvements we have made on existing features from the series. Other times we will give players an overview of aspects of the game which aren't directly gameplay related. At times we try to explain our thought process behind a particular decision. And sometimes we take a look at our company and the people who are making the game. We know they can be a little hit and miss at times for some of our readers, but if you don't enjoy any particular one then the best advice we can give is to come back next Thursday to see if we touch on a topic which interests you!

We know that many people would like some sort of timeframe or roadmap for the release, however, this is something we have decided against doing. You are all well aware that in the past we have said we hoped to have the game in your hands by X, and this backfired when we failed to hit those targets. We don't want to build up people's hopes or expectations until we are 100% certain that we will hit that target, and because of that we won't be announcing any dates or discussing the specifics of the development progress in great detail.

Callum_TaleWorlds 说:
I think one of the big problems we had in the not too distant past was hyping the game up prematurely. We announced the game too soon for a start, which is something we are sorry for. We spoke about getting the game in players hands in some form on more than one occasion and then missed those targets, which again, was a mistake and something we can only apologise for. Right now we would prefer not to say a date until we are certain that we can deliver. If some people lose interest and move on, then that is certainly unfortunate, however, surely it is better than building up hype and throwing dates around just for the sake of it.

Callum_TaleWorlds 说:
We have always tried to be upfront and honest about when players will get their hands on the game but, unfortunately, that is just the nature of computer game development. Sometimes a feature needs to be redesigned or scrapped, or a more efficient way of doing something is discovered which means going back and changing parts of the game (so what was once finishing touches suddenly ends up being back in development). We want the game to be the best it can be and if this means extending development time then that is what we will do. I know that might sound a little negative, or perhaps even slightly arrogant, but I think it is clear to see that we have recognised our past mistakes and have changed our approach to communication completely in the past 6 months.

Also, there simply isn't any way we could "informally" tell people any sort of date here on the forums without it being out in the wild 5 minutes later. If, for example, we were to say that you won't see the game within the next two months, people will assume that means an April release and hold us to that.

Callum_TaleWorlds 说:
We know this is a delicate subject for everyone and it certainly could have been handled better by us, there is no doubting that. We apologise for getting people's hopes up in the past (and we truly are sorry for that) but you have to understand that when we made those estimates we very much believed that we would hit those targets. Right now, we do have an idea of when you will get to play the game, however, we don't want to announce that until we are confident that we won't repeat our past mistakes by missing any targets we set. We know this isn't the answer that you want to hear, but we would rather be upfront and honest about where we currently stand rather than build up some false hype by throwing a date out there.

Now we see the violence inherent in the system!

Help! Help! I'm being repressed!

GOD DANGIT you beat me to it, as I was reading through that whole mess, I had that Monty bit in my head. Cheers to you, sir.

Maybe this isn't helpful, but I just got the urge to speak up because reasons:

I am not saying people can't say that they want to know a release date, and I am not saying that posting "when tho" isn't valid. What I am saying is we get it, we got it, and we don't need to hear[read] about it anymore. We all want the game, we all fall somewhere on the spectrum of impatience with TW, but really, raving in the forums is like yelling at the TV when your favorite team isn't doing well. It just creates useless noise.

Now, what was this blog about again?

Lol Taleworlds is so mad they warned me XD
I'm not a TaleWorlds employee, buddy.

Do you get paid?

No, forum moderators are unpaid volunteers - modders, players and long time forum members who care about the game and community. Not everyone is out for themselves. Personally, I'm not sufficiently dedicated or patient enough to take on such a role, but I respect those who do.
