How, or even if, they get there is completely down to their own choices and actions within the game. In previous Mount & Blade games, this rise to power revolves around a single character, but with the introduction of permanent death and clans in Bannerlord – two new features that work hand in hand to create a deeper, more immersive experience – some of the focus needed to shift slightly away from the exploits of an individual character. This is where the topic of this week’s blog steps to the fore: renown.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/119

The 2018 Gamescom demo Encyclopaedia listed Playerland as a clan
Hello,

i wonder i you have some screenshot from your own test of this demo, or if a wiki (or else) has been made from this demo. If yes, do you have a link ?
Thanks in advance.

Cause i found a wiki, but with very few informations, and nothing on clans.

The player banner gives me hope that clans will vary in colour from their faction, though I know it is unlikely.

Makes the clans feel bland and uninspired.

Callum dropped by Discord last night and said your clan has an emblem that you design, and the colours in the background are assigned with the colours of the faction you are associated with

R5Quv.png

He also said that the player has to choose an in-game culture when creating a character, that there are not mixed cultures, and that permadeath for your character can be turned on and off in mid-game (if you are alone in the game world and get killed is game over, so it is an option). Mind you that permadeath off is only for your player character, the rest of people will die (from old age or in battles)

Another thing said was the game is set to be 8 game weeks = 1 year, though is not final, no limit on sons or daughters that you can have, that character relations are not inherited by your heir once your main character dies, and they are REWORKING the game map to add more water body features

This screenshot of a skill from the skill tree was shared as well

One potential issue is max renown of your clan near the endgame. Will difficulty increase make it easier to lose renown and harder to gain? A lot of these sandbox kind of games ESPECIALLY TOTALWAR series I am looking at you CA suffer from boring ass end game.

Thank you very much.

Each culture got same font banner color: that seems a little bit easy, same clan but same culture: if you think of heraldry each family got their colors/emblems, i hope they allow other system of banners and its not hardcoded. I understand Bannerlord is inspired by high medieval age when heraldry was less developed so this system can be ok for that period. But in the same time i think ancient colors of clans were with much geometric forms so if the system just allow you to put an emblem in middle of the banner (and nothing between the emblem and background) that looks too much modern to me ! I think they should allow layers between emblem and backgroung colors like the ones from this page "divisons ordinaries and variations" http://wappenwiki.org/index.php?title=Heraldic_Elements

Also a banner can be just a simple thing with basic geometry, in history a house was repesented many times by just two colors divided, a cross, etc... like the basic divisions i've linked up.

I like this multi party stuff I'm hearing but we need some clarification please. Can you switch between parties? or is it a system where you give other clan parties order through some kind of menu? Do other clan parties have autonomy while you are not using them? or is it like a mix of all of these?

Or are the clan members "inactive", waiting for your reincarnation?
Also, is there a physical place where your spouse and children live, or do they travel with you?

Thank you very much.

You are welcome!

Hopefully it's a setting. I do wonder if that means there's a clear cut end date, then, considering I doubt the world will progress technologically (or in any other way, aside of borders, to be honest) as the time goes.

With each tier that the clan reaches, they are rewarded with an additional party slot, an increased companion limit, and additional caravans that can work under the clan’s tutelage.

One party slot per tier progression sounds slow. How will this work where a clan is attempting to build its own kingdom? You win a siege but can't claim ownership of the castle/town because your lack of renown limits the number of parties you can control??? [EDIT - as Rabies points out, these parties are warbands not fiefs!]

Hopefully, Playerland Clan is merely a default name that players can change to something more acceptable.

In the screenshot, both companions are described as 'going to a point'. That description is remarkably uninformative - seems equivalent to just saying travelling somewhere.

You need to be in a clan to be a mercenary ? Why ?

I suspect factions only employ mercenary clans, not individual mercenaries. Presumably also why minor faction mercenary companies are single clans.

I suspect player allready is a clan whether he is alone or with a band. I like the idea. If I become a noble hero, my offspring gonna has easier start with my reputation. But when I spend my life being scum... My poor children :fruity:

Seems better and better! Cant wait to get my hands on the game. I'd love if the clan system is something that can be shared in multiplayer - being brothers from the same clan with your friend seems like a dope thing  For that matter, Could someone help out my uneducated ass, and tell me if you can play the campaign mode in multiplayer with friends? Would assume so, but want to double check.

It seems that the UI has evolved a bit since the last Gamescom and tends to resemble that of the section of kingdom management. You could publish a picture of each section; little clarification and many questions.

At least tell us what the three dots at the bottom left of the UI mean.

Renown is associated with the Clan.
End of the quotation.

What diplomatic options are available to/for the Clan? Little is being said about diplomacy... I am afraid.

@Insider thanks for the info

Well that is awfully disappointing, lets hope that their claims of the game being so moddable allows us to make something more visually appealing and more sensible.

Naval combat won't be available at release, but it will be a thing in a DLC I guess

Eight weeks to a year means 56 days. That's a good 2 or 3 hours, if time runs for each day at roughly the same speed as in warband? (Depending on how many battles you get into.)
So 10 years is 560 days. If your heir we're to take over control of the Clan at aged 20, that'd be 1120 days in, if the heir was born on day 1(unlikely).
I don't think that sounds particularly fast.
I'd guess your only going to get a couple of dynastic changes in the average campaign at that rate.
