Gamescom is around the corner, and as you may have imagined, we will be there showcasing Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. We can’t tell you exactly what we will show just yet, but we can at least confirm that it will be something slightly different from the demo that we took to E3.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/21

To everyone else - Diablo 3 was in development for 11 years. If we go by that then TW have another 6 years to perfect Bannerlord

Yes, and at the release the game was total garbage.
Does 11 years of waiting "this" was worth it ?

I don't want that for Bannerlord, waiting in vain. Making a perfect game is impossible, and anyway the modders will finish your game as always.

Sweet! A new development blog was published on my 18th birthday! What a nice present!

While I wish to know just a general time frame for when it will be released, I do appreciate that we aren't just getting silence like we've been getting in the past.

Maybe if I'm lucky, the game will be released just in time for my 21st birthday!

Just glad these weekly Dev Blogs are and will be consistent. I look forward to catching the stream of Gamescom, and I hope we see something updated in Bannerlord since last time at E3. Taleworlds probably wants to keep it under wraps what they will be showing of something slightly different as to not spoil the surprise. Addressing the elephant in the room is good, with civil discourse on the thread. More open explanation than just 'can't talk about it'.

Welp, lets start off with mentioning that you are still keeping your word with having a blog every Thursday, I like that. However what about Bannerlord Alpha or Beta testing?
Zahari 说:
Are you going to launch some kind of beta or early access ?

I would really like a possible alpha/beta too, but perhaps that is not on the table yet, if at all. For some users and fans, they would like to see the game for what it is, and so the feedback is effectively understood. To show rather than to simply tell and visualize. Early access on the other hand, is a easy pitfall into negative reviews from those who do not understand M&B for what it means to fans. If a future dev blog can address the question of 'will/should there be an alpha/beta?' It would be further relief IMO. However, so far so good in the effort to be more open to the community at large. If only everyone was so level headed and sound of mind in their reactionary replies.

I've always been of the mind that TaleWorlds shouldn't cave in and give out a release date when they don't know how much longer the game will take. It's something that's almost guaranteed not to end well and doesn't improve anything, but people childishly demand it anyway. Now with that said, there's something I need answered... You aren't going to just surprise release the game without any forewarning right? I know a bunch of people are saying they'd be very happy with this and encouraging it, but these people perhaps don't have full time jobs they need to take time off from and are probably also not modders. I don't mind if the release date or a release window is still years away from announcement, please do actually give me a few months to get my C# ready and have sufficient notice to take a week or 2 of leave from work.

aww it makes me a little upset to see negative posts about the blog. It may not be what we wanted, but its something we needed imo. Thanks so much Callum for the effort it's definitely appreciated.

Do you know who also never really knew when their game would come out? 3D Realms and their beloved project Duke Nukem Forever. Every time there was an event they had something to show but could never really answer how far the game actually was. People loved what 3D Realms showed them but little did they know the project was doomed to be stuck in development hell from the start. No matter how smug the lead developers stated that the game is done when it's done and how people like them didn't need a release date because come on man, we developed the original Duke Nukem, obviously we know what we're doing! Turns out they didn't know a damn thing and everyone who worked at that game had nothing to show on their résumé when they had to eventually leave 3D Realms.

You guys really need to learn that licking boots doesn't get you anywhere where you want to be. This blogpost is also full of inconsistencies - I wouldn't go as far as calling them lies - like trying to argue that the game has only been in development for 5 years which was when the teaser went up which obviously isn't the case, the development on the game started after Warband was released, which was released early 2010. Armagan himself also said that the early announcement clearly was a mistake and the part about not giving a release date or estimates? Yeah, how about our beloved Ginge telling us that they aimed to release the game in some form at the end of 2016? They obviously have no vision or plan other than trying to make the best game possible, like, you know, what were they called again? Ah yes, 3D Realms. They also have no internal deadline like that other developer, hm, what were they called again? Oh, right. 3D Realms. They claim that they know what they're doing, that their approach only has advantages, like that other company, 3D Realms I believe it was called.

Good points.
Maybe we can hope they'll run out of money and a lender will make them commit to a release date. I'm sure the end product will be better and focused on the important features as well.

I am already watching the following blog "interview" the answers will be more of the same .... nothing new. And I suppose that in your future blogs we will see what the parking outside your offices is like or what is the favorite color of the design team? Or what is your menu on Thursdays? .... all very important data about the game things that interest the community ........................

I do think I recall Taleworlds being partially funded by the government so running out of money won't really be a problem, at least technically.

here, a hope for an economic collapse in Turkey

I along with many others have been waiting for the release of the game since the first teaser screenshots in 2012(?). Knowing how many hours I sunk into the campaign I know that the wait will be well worth it and it is extremely refreshing seeing more constant updates. Even if it is just letting us know the development process is alive and well. Thank you Taleworlds!

How are you capable of not having a time frame for release? For a normal company to stay in business to stay in business they need to make more than they spend. Did you make so much money off of your previous games that are able to cover expenses for an indefinite amount of time? Is it that you have a secret fanatical investor who does not care how long you take due to his/her complete faith in you? Maybe the economy is so bad on yonder that you can pay your employees negligible wages? Please TaleWorlds, the business man in me wants to learn of your secret method to circumvent the need for profit.

Indeed, it is nice to have a sure dose of B.S. every week.

Sounds great, and I’m really glad the team is putting in a lot of hard work to produce something amazing. I just want to know where the line is. A game could theoretically be worked on for hundreds of years always being worked on yet never being released because the people making it have no limitations or money restrictions. And new ideas and possibilities will always come up. Content can always be added and removed but time will always go by and we will never regain that time. I think people really want to know is what is being worked on at this point in the games development. What I want to know is how we have come from possible beta at the end of 2016 to just doing the finishing touches around E3 to no clear announcement date because you have no limitations or pressure from a business perspective. I’m not complaining, I was one of the first to see the trailer pop up on YouTube all those years ago. I obviously can wait. And I’m really pleased that you have been far more transparent with us lately. But the nitty gritty needs a clear answer. If you can’t do this can you please give us like an hour or two of gorgeous game play pretty please

THIS ! This is exactly the kind of communication I wanted. Now you tell things, we get to better understand you, and you answer big questions. Not the answers I wished for, but answers to questions I asked myself.

And I really prefer you as straightforward as you guys are now ! Having a no is always better than no answer, because the last one implies a «maybe».

Thank you TW, and GG for this next level of communication, this is all I wanted. Wish you the best for Gamescom

Salmonsy 说:
Waah waah whine whine 3D Realms complain complain 3D Realms sob sob 3D Realms moan moan 3D Realms personal issues 3D Realms rage rage 3D Realms

First of all, this isn't 3D Realms. Saying 3D REALMS FOLDED SO TW WILL TOO is like saying HEY THERE'S A WAR IN THE CONGO SO THERE WILL BE A WAR HERE TOO! Just because it happened somewhere else doesn't mean it will happen here.

Second, I hope all you naysayers and complainers realise that when Bannerlord is released, you're all going to look like massive buttholes. Like, gaping. Predicting the doom and demise of the project just so you can have the satisfaction of stroking your delicate ego and gloating HAHA TOLD U SO in the unlikely event that something goes wrong and no game is ever released, is the height of dickery, and definitely not the sort of community-building mentality that a true game fan ought to engage in. Is some criticism of the previous communication (or lack thereof) and the length of time it's taken to get this far warranted? Sure, and several posters have already expressed their disappointment like actual human beings. If I was a Dev reading this thread (and they do) I would think, "Wow, some of our customers are tantrum-throwing children" and it would not fill me with enthusiasm for engaging with the community.

Now pick up your toys and grow up.
