Gamescom is around the corner, and as you may have imagined, we will be there showcasing Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. We can’t tell you exactly what we will show just yet, but we can at least confirm that it will be something slightly different from the demo that we took to E3.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/21

I think we are very lucky that this company making the best game so far is the ones that dont need to rush after a date and do it right not rushed like all the other gaming company's ,when the game comes out you are all going to be glad that they did and that it works grait with very few bugs and the game it self is very well made then all this waiting will be forgotten.

To everyone else - Diablo 3 was in development for 11 years. If we go by that then TW have another 6 years to perfect Bannerlord

It had also sold 30million copies after 3 years of its release and was still the 10th most popular game. So that's what 11 years of hype does for you... Cant wait to play Bannerlord in 2023

Not because i am eager to play bannerlord, but because of the feedback potential and start of modding; beta access would be great. I dont expect a great game honestly, we already have great modder and community which would polish the game anyway. Still we have no choice but to respect TW's decision. I hope gamescom will be unlike E3. E3 was one word fiasco.

Are you guys ****ing Joking? What a bunch of bull****. Ive gone througb this thread and seen the people saying "oh thats ok, i understand." And all i can say is ARE you ****ing serious? Your game is abso-****ing-lutely in development hell. It wont be out this year, it wont be out next year. If your lucky it may come out in 2019. But dont hold your breath because a very good chance exists that this game will die. "Other companies put out release dates, but we dont work like that." Because your obviously bad at business... the reason companies put a release date on games is not to rush developement or give the devs a deadline so they can make money. Its for you the consumers, you get a release date so that you know when the game is coming out so you can save, trade and get hyped for it. So you can have reassurance that this game WILL come out. Its so you have faith that there will be a game. So far im seeing a nice pet project that has no faith behind it. It tells me this game is already a disappointment and that you may never release it. And if and when you do it will be like throwing a rain drop in the ocean. No one will ****ing care by that point and the majority of the player base and fans will have left. I love the mount and blade series, i have played them all multiple times and enjoyed them. It is because i like this series so much that this pisses me off to no end. Not because you wont give me my release date but because you've proven there is no faith behind the game and thus killed any remaining hype i had for bannerlord. I now wont buy the game on launch and i doubt ill notice if and when it does. Best of luck and hopefull you learn.

Greetings to Everyone!

I had some ideas for the game, maybe nothing new, but i wanted to share. If this not the best topic then sorry...

I read the last post on the website and i like the philosphy of the developer team. (And the Mount and Blade games, and i'm really waiting the new game... but away with my hype)
That article inspired me to think of something.

What about assassination? In the Warbands, there were some random "bandit" attack.
But what if something more "complex"? The nobels sometimes used poison to get rid of an enemy?
Or hire a professional.
This could be a "fast way" to be a King. Marry the princess and kill the king, in secret.
Maybe put some risk in it for balance?

This could be some optional quest also for players. Or we should be aware of our enemies and don't get poisoned.

Anyway, thanks for reading my thougths!

You could have it where if you or your assassins fail, there would be a strong chance that you got found out*. Your relations with the lord and his faction would go down drastically, and you would be hunted by parties from that faction to be brought back and tried for your crimes. You could be imprisoned, or if they have a permadeath option, even executed.

*Edit: I just thought of something. If you fail but no one else is around or you are well disguised, then you could have a better chance of getting away unnoticed. For assassins there could be a modifier based on their skill / level that would make them more or less likely to get caught or to rat out if they got caught.

GUYS PLEASE, DO NOT INVEST TOO MUCH IN MULTIPLAYER BEFORE LAUNCHING IT!! PEOPLE REALLY ONLY WANT THE SINGLEPLAYER, IT WOULD BE NICE TO JUST NOT INVEST IN THE MULTIPLAYER AND LAUNCH EARLIER, THEN INVESTING ON IT, MOUNT BLADE IS MAINLY OFFLINE, ALSO THE CONSISTENT PLAYER BASE HAS TO FORM ITSELF INSIDE THE GAME BEFORE RANKED MULTIPLAYER, ALSO IT WILL BE GOOD TO HAVE LIKE 1 MONTH OF PPL TRAINING ON SINGLEPLAYER AND THEN BOOM EVERYONE PLAYING ONLINE ON A MULTIPLAYER

The majority of the blog information could of been stated years ago, at least then fans wouldn't be waiting for a release date or gameplay footage as we could respect that as developers you don't want to limit yourselves. After years of little to no communication with the community it's too late to try and fix it now. This game is destined to be dead on release, as much as it hurts to admit that.

The majority of the blog information was stated years ago; I think they've said before that they don't want to rush it and aren't beholden to anyone so can take their time. It is also common sense that they aren't just twiddling their thumbs or delaying the release, since outside of illogical conspiracy theories such behaviour doesn't make any sense. Saying the game is destined to be dead on release is preposterous, people are still going to like it if it is a good game. There is no sign of any other game like Bannerlord on the horizon so there is no reason to think its place in the market will have been usurped in the next year or two.

Sounds like mid development hell to me, unrealistic features and advances that the team cant accomplish.

What unrealistic features and advances are you speaking of?

How does that make sense? 'No faith behind the project'? Clearly they do have faith, otherwise they wouldn't be spending so much time and money on it....you talk as if they've gone from making a couple of games to saying "we aren't going to try very hard to make another game...though we will spend years on it, massively increase the size of the team and produce impressive content that is far superior to Warband to showcase at numerous international gaming conventions. But, as I said, this isn't a game with faith behind it and we will probably not release it for some illogical reason that I won't go into."

And release dates very much are, principally, for the publishers to make money. They want a timeline for when they are going to make money on the game they've agreed to promote and distribute, and throughout gaming history it has been no secret that various projects have been rushed or abandoned because they weren't going to meet arbitary (in terms of the practicalities of developing a game) deadlines set by publishers/investors. It's exasperating that you make such baldly false statements with such certainty. It would be correct to say that from the consumer's perspective it is useful to have a release date, and of course publishers often consider consumer habits when announcing release dates (for the purpose of making money) and it is a bonus for a publisher if a lot of excitement builds up about their game after the release date is announced (and when the Bannerlord release date is announced, such an effect will be evident), but it is not the reason they exist.

I like to imagine the TW office is one long row of pleather seats behind Important-looking desks, in which each Developer sits wearing a pinstripe suit and with a white cat upon his knee, and every once in a while he (or she) will stroke the cat and laugh maniacally at the desperation of players whilst browsing the forums.

well, I'm hyped for the gamescom and your conference guys, also I have a question(maybe a little stupid) but however, would exist the possibility for console modding support?

Yes companies do give release dates to generate hype. To say they wouldnt be in it to make the most money they possibly can would be a lie. No company exist to not make money which brings me back to my point that it is in a development hell. Any company would be stoking the fires if this thing was any where near ready. Wanting to boost sales. But intead they refuse to do so saying they just dont do that. Again thats bad business. They have people that love their job but do they work for free? If not they should want that revenue in sales. And its not like you havent seen this before. Many games enter development hell after not getting a release date. Some get cancelled because they just couldnt finish it and had to put something else out to generate money, some get cncelled due to companies being bought out, and some just never see the light of day. It happens and with bannerlord refusing a release date tells me alot. It tells me that it is far from being finished let alone in any kind of alpha or beta. Again i loved this series but after this i have absolutely no hype for a game in development hell

Not all companies want to milk money same way. According to videos game is playable if not complete. They can sell game today and make profit, after every month they can add dlcs too. They just dont prefer it.

The difference between Taleworlds and most other devs is that they self-publish and fund their own game - there's no one to cancel their project, except themselves. There's also no one to supervise their project and demand better management, so that's a problem. Unless they run out of money, Bannerlord is in the works.
As for asking for a release date, it's fair to ask at this point at least when they will know the release date. Or at least when they will know when they will know the release date.
If they can't tell us that, we must assume they have no real plans and they are improvising on a daily basis.
