Haha. Nope, it isn't, and it isn't even labelled as such. Clearly called developer blogs and shared here in a section called "The Developers' Blog". We could write about our top 10 favourite kinds of cheese and it would still be technically correct.

Jokes aside, if you read the blog, or at least the first couple of paragraphs, you can see why we feel this is directly related to the game. We want to provide our community with a platform that enhances their Mount & Blade experience in a number of different ways (finding and sharing content, discussing our games, finding friends to play with, organising and taking part in events, etc.)

Pure melodramatic sarcasm of mine, I'm glad you're taking it as a joke ( naturally). The thing is (jokes aside) that I've always considered the diaries as what they really are (technically), an expanded information based on your product. Communicate the creation of a website, forum, although it is part of the whole as a company / product I think there are other ways to make it known. In the end, it is your product, your blogs and your way of communicating; I for one can only praise or complain.

upvoting is fine, as long the forum doesnt promote karma farming (users have a karma score). Otherwise it just ends with a bunch of spam and copy/paste and reposts for karma points, which will give extra work for the moderators.

Trophies:

We have included a new trophy system with the forums which provides users with goals and achievements that they can work towards by being productive members of the community.

Maybe it's way too late to mention it, but I hope the theme won't be anything dark. The old website, for example, was a pain for the eyes, and even the new one can be a bit harsh due to high contrast between the text and the background. By my standards, even Steam is too dark, with night light enabled in Windows. One advantage of this forum is that the theme color is relaxing and you can actually spend time reading things without crying a cup of tears.

I'll reserve judgement on the forums until I see them. However, I hope you've improved the in-site search engine. Tags are a plus but users are lazy. We need a decent search engine. It is ridiculous that I have to leave the current forums and set google to search them to find anything useful. Some of the Warband modding tips/Q&As/example codes etc. are nuggets hidden in years of transitory chat.

PS try searching: giant skeleton          using the in-site search engine and compare the results setting google to: giant skeleton site:forums.taleworlds.com

...I don't want the forums to turn into a reddit hive where all the people are a bunch of NPC's...

What's wrong with NPCs? I'm not changing my name.

I can understand some of the apprehensions in regards to reactions to posts, they do indeed not do much good on some other sites.

However, I think it's a good thing to allow supporting views or ideas expressed in posts that you have nothing to add to. That doesn't mean that you can't form, phrase and type a coherent, understandable point, it might just mean that the post you support has said all that needed be said. I'd like to think that I can express myself reasonably well, but I usually don't make a point, if someone has already made it. Supporting such a post could still be beneficial, to encourage the person making it, and show that their views are being heard, and in matters of feedback to Taleworlds, to somewhat quantify it. And while that very effect could be seen as harmful if it applies to extremist or just silly views, we'll still have moderation to uphold the forum rules, and we should trust that the Mount & Blade community will do better than that.

I was going to say the same thing (I would've liked your post for instance). I completely understand the concerns towards this feature, but it happened countless times particularly in the beta board that someone already said everything I had to say, so I had nothing to add and didn't want to bother cluttering the thread with a simple "+1" post. I don't think it's really necessary, mind you, but in these situations reactions would certainly come in handy. Perhaps limiting reactions to a simple "like" would prevent people from using, say, funny reactions to ridicule a post and discourage users from continuing a conversation. Nevertheless, surely there will be attention-seeking people trying to post whatever gets them the most likes, at the same time that already happens to some extent, so I'm not sure if there would be a massive difference, but perhaps I'm wrong. We'll see how it goes, in the end as Delinard said nothing is set in stone yet.

Latecomers, like me, often prefer a +1 to rephrasing a well made argument.

This is one of the major reasons why the new modding tab will have a dedicated Q&A section with question type threads. Instead of piling lots and lots of scattered knowledge in one Q&A thread, searching is made easier because each question now has a separate thread, with a title that counts as extra search information. Add prefixes and tags to the mix and search should be a lot easier now.

That's a plus, but I often find more valid information outside the Q&A thread, which is generally only for quick/simple questions.

It is, but it very often turns into a into discussion in which a lot of great information is handed out.

Very cool!

Let`s celebrate the official new forum release date,
20th January 2020 (even though there`s a typo and it says 20/01/19), or we are using american datings

Well, i might as well post this here now.
This was a poem of desperation out of the lack of the blog.
Even though we got the blog, let the writing not be in vain:

Over green fields, mountains and hills,
a sea of trees lies, called the Druimmor forest.
Whoever walks past it indeed gets the chills,
a few would dare enter, only the boldest.

Legends say inside lives a Fairy,
a creature usurping all living souls,
she takes and collects all she can carry,
souls of the people she now controls.

Then came a hero, warrior from Dunglanys,
searching for honor and fame,
he knew the legends, and all else about this,
but hunting the Fairy was no child`s game.

The hero there went and entered the forest,
all by himself, his courage, his blade,
wind started howling, mist was the coldest,
yet even then his will wasn't swayed.

As he was walking, deeper and deeper,
the warrior regretted having no companion,
the hero has felt his end's gotten nearer,
when woods started chanting in old Battanian.

Cold sweat started dripping from warriors face,
all of the sudden, arose the Fairy queen,
hero has fallen to her embrace,
she was the most beautiful thing he's ever seen.

"Fear not, my love", she said to the hero,
"now i am yours and you are mine,
welcome to family, my beautiful willow,
you are the one that's destined to shine".

The warrior became her most loyal servant,
the best and the strongest there's ever been,
with hair and the eyes red as a currant,
he started being known as Ioren the Wolfskin.

They're just adapting their "store front" for the newcomers after EA release. I think that a stream of new, younger players is very likely to happen, so the vintage-looking website and forum wouldn't be the best way to give good first impressions.
Smart move in my book.
