However, this year, things are a little different... For the first time ever we will be presenting the game in both the business and public areas of the event. This means that anyone with a ticket can come along to one (or both!) of our booths to play the game for themselves. This is a completely new experience for us and we are sure there will be many unforeseen challenges that crop up, but, so far, our preparations have been going well and we are really excited to be able to show the game in (somewhat) its entirety!

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/122

About the blog.
What do you think? Do the characters in the blog image look older than a year ago?
10 years have passed, there should be signs of aging.

LoL, you aren`t THAT gullible, are you? Its just a matter of speach at this point .
I know. Let me dream.
I kind of wish they DON`T release the game until...at least next year  .
Otherwise my son will never learn to walk because i will be playing this game in my spare time instead of with him !

Now serious, these past 7 years of waiting for Bannerlord have been crazy: Finnished college, found a job, got my masters degree, promoted at job, got married, promoted again, quit my job and moved back to my hometown, started my own bussiness, took over my father-in-laws bussiness as well, had a baby and now he is on the brink of being able to walk by himself.

I dont know how many of those things would`ve played out the way they did if Bannerlord was realeased at any point during that timeline.

I`m not even joking

Hey man, I just finished college, and in 1.5 years of my job, I hope I don't have to wait too long like you  .
In a few years, I probably don't have that much interests in game anymore

I love how the characters look older.

I have two questions though:

Is it possible to "realisticly" change hairstyle over time? I mean, being able to freely switch appearance feels cheap IMO, so my question is more about some kind of hairstyle system that makes sense in the setting.

Number two: is character aging smooth and subtle or do their appearance change overnight by considerable steps?

Wow. This did hit home harder than I expected. Congratulations on your life, if everything is going on the best!

Echo. I'm a 2006 Vaegir Veteran here. My life has changed so much since I started my adventures in Caldradia. I've always been a game player, but when Bannerlord is out, I feel that given my new life experiences, I may be ready to try modding. I rarely replay old games, but Mount & Blade is the one title I come back to.

I'm at the edge of my seat drooling over every word in the blogs and videos that have been coming out. Have a great time at Gamescom! I'm ready to preorder many copies of this game.

I hope that the upcoming demonstration of the campaign will not be limited to 30 minutes of gameplay. I don’t think that full-scale battles and sieges will take so little time to see the game in the middle of its passage.

I wouldn't get too excited about descriptions, they're just that - some flavour mixed with reasons why they're lord to this or that faction. Nothing that is written there cannot be headcanon'd into your Warband playthrough. After ambushing Battanians I would suggest against reading mechanics out of flavour texts.

Letting public to play the game is very big deal, this is indicates TW trust its game and ready for every kind of feedbacks. I wanna tons of material from this Gamescom to watch, so I can handle without bannerlord for some time :ohdear:
And please let some expert "press members" to play the game, I don't wanna see someone struggle and make stupid criticts who can't play this game.
Good luck in show!

Of course you will not have THAT much interest in games anymore. Bannerlord can be released tomorow, or never, i really dont care that much anymore.
But i still play games from time to time. I dont watch TV, or have any other media related method of relaxing other than games. So if and when Bannerlord comes out, i am going to play it for sure, be it 1 hour a week or 1 hour a day, but i WILL play it, because am a passionate gamer and M&B fan. But there's life that must move on, with or withous us, that much i learnt from 7 years of pasive waiting for this game

So people in the public area will only be able to play multiplayer? Why??

So I'm guessing more videos this year of people who don't know **** about M and B playing the game badly. Except this time we get to see them fumble and fail their way through a siege. A feature you should want a skilled, experienced player to showcase. Brand new players wouldn't even know how to command a battle properly. Last year it was somewhat tolorable because it was early game and footage could mimic how it would be for new players to learn the game gradually. But throwing players who may have never played before into the mid game feel very ill advised.

We'll get a couple good videos from some veterans. But most, I fear will be pretty bad and agravating for the fan base. I could be wrong though.

Thank God I didn't go for Gamescom. This was my fear from the beginning. Making a detour from my business trip, paying for an extra flight and hotel, only to get there and only be able to play multiplayer

That would have sucked.

Many people will suprise but this is a quite informative blog with particular screenshot. So we can talk with bandit leaders and let'em raid other caravans, great!/quote]

I noticed too. I like informative images like this. It's plus information placed into the text that we can chew on for a bit.
Also, who remembers this blog?

A Reddit user just shared this:

Now that I've noticed the image, the tension and chord of the composite bow are not applied correctly. And taking a look at the video Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Captain Mode - Khuzait vs Empire (2017) also appears this error. I hope I haven't delayed the release of the game for another two years..

They've changed it! Or rather, they've reached a point where they could replace that placeholder.

Well Done my sir! *clap* *clap* *CLAP*
(I know it's not the same bow, but still...)

Indeed 7 years is a long time: 10% time of human life if you're lucky ! So they suggested they will announce something ? Another error of communication or :ohdear:?
The game has actually been in development for encroaching 10 years at this point with development having started in 2010 (sources below).

Source 1 (2015 press release): "The game has been in development since the release of Warband in 2010 and features an all new engine, developed specifically for the game, by developers TaleWorlds."

Source 2: Taleworlds Bannerlord Dev Blog featuring a 2010 employee hire.

Source 3: This video although in a different language mentions starting in 2010.

Taleworlds likes to try to hide this but their new claims as having started in 2012 are easily debunked.

The date they like to quote as the beginning of development was simply the year they began broadcasting the game's existence to the wider press. However even prior to that, people (myself included) were aware of Bannerlord being in development and modders were debating whether it was worthwhile to spend time modding Warband just for what we believed to be in essence 'Warband 2' to be released a year two later and having to start all over again modding a new title.
