For others, it is an opportunity to run around naked with a two-handed sword and test their combat skills against players from all around the world. In this week’s blog, we talk with the person responsible for making these equally epic (and sometimes silly) experiences a reality in Bannerlord: Korneel Guns.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/51

Finally, a good blog. The images and gifs look great although the part about 'choosing more expensive troops' on the 6v6 mentioned mode worries me. Do you choose preset geared warriors/archers/horsemen now in comparison to Warband where you do upgrade each individual part of armor and weapon based on your liking? This could degrade economy management and depth. A clarification on this would be good.

No mention of what the next blog will be... :shifty:

Hopefully they will show off some single player stuff for the next one.

Nice Cant wait to see more on this competitive match making mode. But i think everyone knows we need a full on video now

Nice blog! Lots of info, and like others said, nice pics and gifs. Also really liking the knock-back animation, looks like it's been tweaked:

Edit: I was just thinking, these are the game modes that are already in the game, but I wonder if we'll be getting more after launch either via updates or DLC?

This please. If there is a class system in the multiplayer instead of customizing your own soldier im going to be VERY dissapointed.

I think that only applies to that game mode, classic Battle will obviously have the upgrade system

AWESOME BLOG!

I still wonder what are the "encouragements" you've developed to make people keep moving from zone to zone, target to target. I also wanted to know if you've developed any sort of multiplayer progression system (like a simple rank) that acts as heroin for players to keep coming back to raise dat xp. Too bad I'm not that fond of multiplayer, but boy do I miss those line battles... Those were some of the best multiplayer experiences of my life.

Still waiting on news about events this year and what we can expect from E3 and all those other events I can't even bother to remember the acronyms for.

And, more importantly, more info about the single player time and aging system...

“One of the hardest moments was definitely when we were starting out with serious, regular playtests to check both the game modes and combat. At the time, we didn't have any of the automated tests we have now, so the game broke pretty regularly (and in many different ways).

Since I was organizing these playtests, I felt very responsible for the failure or success of these tests. We would get a dozen people to stop working and help us playtest, only to find out that the game wasn't playable anymore and it was a waste of everyone's time.

We've improved the stability a lot since then, with the help of the QA team in combination with automated testing. Soon after, I could finally hear the cries of people getting killed in-game throughout the office, which certainly made me feel a lot better.”

This is a marvelous thing to hear.
As always, Thanks Callum

There is also Skirmish Battle, a more competitive game mode that is designed to be played 6 vs 6. You have multiple lives per round, but each troop has a different cost, which means you have to make a choice between fielding a greater number of poorly equipped troops or fewer more specialised ones.

The bold part makes me think this "choosing more expensive troops" refers to AI, which seems to be part of this gamemode as well.

Please no. Such progression systems are nothing but a sign that the gameplay's too bad to stand on its own two legs. Mount & Blade is too good for that rubbish.

Yes, it wouldn't make sense otherwise, as the game mode is defined as '6v6' which contradicts the idea that only 12 humans would be involved, with no AI.

Yes it looks terrific, I also like the way he takes a moment to start getting back to his feet as well. Makes it more realistic than seamlessly getting up after being floored by a horse, as in Warband, which frustrated me a bit, and so being bowled over by a cavalry charge will be a bit more significant (closely following cavalry or infantry can set upon the fallen before they are back on their feet or fully ready to fight).

I like the armours in the screenshot too, particularly the diamond pattern. And the woodland path that Korneel created looks brilliant! Lovely shadows and foliage.

I hope we will be getting more modes after launch; I wonder if they might consider testing out new ideas in developer patches- you know how you can opt into developer patches on Steam, so that by default you don't get them but you can choose to take part if you want in a less stable and more experimental patch before it is later rolled out as a default update of the game- to help them develop and balance extra game modes. I know that Capture the Flag and Conquest weren't popular in Warband (though I enjoyed CTF, and sometimes conquest), so it is no surprise that there are fewer game modes at the moment. I seem to remember them saying years ago that there would not be as many multiplayer game modes at launch, but I can't remember if they specified that there would be more to come after launch. I imagine the standard battle mode of Warband, where all combatants are human, must make a return as it was popular, or perhaps they intend it to be replaced by both skirmish and Captain battles? I personally would like to see TDM back too, though I'm not sure how popular it is compared to other game modes.
