Wild honey can be found, and bog iron, but the real prize has always been fur. For centuries, brave traders ventured there to buy the pelts of fox, rabbit and ermine from the tribes of the woods. As the empire expanded eastward, that trickle of traders became a flood. Great towns sprung up on the rivers. Fortune-seekers came from the coast, from the steppes, and most of all from the Nordlands. Tribal elders made alliances with the newcomers, sealed by wedding vows, and with their share of the trading profits hired mercenaries to subdue other tribes. Sturgia became a collection of principalities, then a kingdom, the great powerhouse of the north.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/39

This is great news! something for Slav fans, something for Viking fans and even something for the Finns. 3 in 1.
100% my faction of choice

Another faction preview so soon? We are lucky indeed. And the Sturgians looks awesome and sound really interesting.

As an ethnically mixed faction it will be interesting to see how these guys operate and how they will function since I suspect it will be both the "Norse" and the "Slavic" faction all jumbled together in a glorious mix.

Well, for example, if you make a swing, but I wound you in the wrist, your weapon can fly away. Expensive gloves give a chance to keep weapon.

If you implant that into the game, does it mean that everyone else can do that too? 800 AIs on the battlefield and each one of them has a chance to hit others in the hand and knock their weapon down or something, then it would require many more calculations isnt it. Same for other ideas like combat rolling or dodging. I think Taleworlds has limited resource and budget so they need to make the best of it, every company does. The point is to make you feel that you are just like any other one in the world, no better than a looter and no worse than a lord. Not much special moves, and gotta take this world with real and limited skills.(I dont know much about computer science and I have language barrier too)

There are good fencers, there are bad fencers. Do not forget, the battle is the basis of the game, especially in multiplayer.

Dev probably want everyone to be an average fencer that doesnt rely on special ability but solid skill.

This is the skill, not Push the X to win.

Skill is not making it so there is a dice roll for a weapon to drop because the player got hit.

And without magic it is impossible?

Of course, I have been playing with this combat system for many years. It's boring. 4 blocks 4 strikes.

...That's kind of the central mechanic and is 4 more blocks and strikes then most games?

Yes, but better not.

I would like a "superstructure" on the central mechanics. New opportunities in combat.

Im intrested in seeing your version of perfect combat.

Ignoring money and developement issues, what is your perfect ideal combat system? Describe in full detail, exactly how the player will interact with his weapon and the opponent.

Well, for example, if you make a swing, but I wound you in the wrist, your weapon can fly away. Expensive gloves give a chance to keep weapon.

I have a lot of idea, but ... a language barrier.

Yaga is another russian person who comments alot and uses machine translation to speak english to us. Language barrier is not a problem if Yaga can do it.

@Yaga is missing. Because of that we suddently got a weird discussion on MP on a thread about a faction blog.

We need to go back to discuss about important stuff like trees!

i will drrrrrrrink frrom your Skjaldir brrrrrreeeeeedAs skulls!
I love you taleworlds!
Add the fraction of proto-Caucasian peoples, living in war towers high in the mountains, the guardians of trade routes and important mountain passes

How many hours do you have in Warband? How many of them are in multiplayer? What modes do you play?

With the release to this day.

A skill is to hit a hand at the right moment. Probability is needed to give a chance to another player.

Yaga. I know this man.

Lets not discuss fighting animations in this topic, but somewhere else. I bet some users can open additional threads to share their amazing fighting mechanism ideas. :meh:

Jokes aside, trees are more imporant than making the combat a horrible RNG fest with ''chances to lose weapon''  . If that would happen I'd probably not even buy the game. Keep the combat like Warband's bare bones, simple and skill requiring. Also the arguement 4 directional block/swing is boring and easy is false, and that can be proven in multiplayer. In Bannerlord I have seen much more advanced AI that kicks, feints and does not spam attacks like morons.

Also, I'm still salty as **** at you TW because you have mentioned multiple times that Sturgians are viking styled, lethal axemen. Instead we get an overglorified refugee camp as a nation with the master race as a minor faction. Whoever made that decision I hope you get moved to Electronic arts forever.

Without the presence of Yaga, reading through this forum feels wrong. I am very curious to see Yaga's takeaway from this.

@578 Dear God, RNG abilities such as disarming an opponent would make the combat so frustrating.

Ιt would make it plain **** to be honest. RNG is the worst thing ever when its implemented in combat.

And without them it will be Warband. Already wiped to holes.

Warband is still played today by thousands of players who disagree with you. Go play overwatch.

And why do we need a similar Bannerlord? We have Warband.

Βecause warband is old, looks **** and has unfixable glitches. Bannerlord has directional shielding, combos and is faster than warband.
