As you know, we created an engine from scratch for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. We had many goals when we started working on it, but three of them had top priority: of course it had to do what we needed in order to create a huge sandbox game such as this one, but it also had to be easily moddable, and on top of that, it had to be flexible enough to work on low-end computers. In this week's blog, we talk to Engine Programmer, Burak Dermanli, one of the people responsible for the engine and its optimisation for all kinds of computers.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/77

Look on the bright side, at least we didn't wait 5 months for it.
Its harder waiting every day for a thing.

Well, i'm not a Great Khan, I'm just a humble Knight. For being humble, I'm happy with what I have.

And it's cool to see how they're envolved in the development process, how they're trying to make everything perfect for us to play and mod. I aprecciate that effort, even if it means hurting my heart with eternal waiting.

We must understand that it is a complex game. You cannot expect them to make it out too fast. Some games are being made by using some already finished game engine, such as unreal engine, but Taleworlds is making their own "unreal engine". It cannot happen too fast.

I have not any problem about rlease date. Instead I pray this game don't release until next year.

Great blog. The skinning of the cape and its movement under cloth physics without clipping was awesome. Now we need better alternatives to back carried shields, quivers, javelin cases etc so they don’t degrade such wonderful aesthetics.
I’d love to see what such a long cape looks like on horseback. Will it need a replacement mesh that has been skinned/rigged differently to avoid waving through the horse’s rump? Presumably meshes can be switched in different circumstances by whatever replaces triggers.
Having seen so many puny capes, I was concerned that TW had cowered away from full length cloaks. Sorry I lacked sufficient faith.

Great job on the pommel strikes - that came as another welcome surprise.

I also loved the gif’s layered treelines - they gave a great sense of perspective, depth & realism.

Awesome Blog! Detailed modding/engine info, great gifs, fist time i've seen capes and pommel strikes(if that's truly what they where.. looked like it).

Edit: Any chance of seeing that "Two Handed Arrow Deflect" perk in action some time?

True, it looks like pommel strike, moreover, i'm not sure but it seems to me that the second guy chambered it with his left attack?

I am happy as game will be optimized for low and medium-end rigs
I hope the final low-end rig is already available at the market.
