A traveller coming over the passes from greener lands would first see fields of dunes broken by gravel plains and volcanic outcrops, shimmering under the heat haze. But there is water to be found underground, trapped in depressions or beneath the wadis where the occasional flash flood rumbles by. And in these oases people have settled. They are divided into dozens of clans and sub-clans, each with its elaborate genealogy, but are collectively known as the Banu Asera or the Aserai after the legendary patriarch Asera, whom they all claim as an ancestor.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/41

My question for future blog: Is writer and designer responsible for quest design? If yes, have the team considered an idea of randomised chained quests planned?

For example we recieve quest to deliver ransom for girl from guild master. We journey to given place at given time. We decide wheter to kill them or pay for her and there is, say 20% chance for followup.

From list of followups A, RNG graces us with complication. We return to the city with rescued girl and turns out she is not true kidnapped girl, just impostor. So we embark on the quest to find her by other means. We must for example find a band of merry man and defeat them. After that, we find out that girl is kept at looters camp in location X.

So we clean location X and there is 20% chance for followup B, picked randomly from list. For example, RNG picked that girl in fact used to be in this camp. However she fall in love with one of the leaders and they escaped...

2 extra tables per 5 complications for few quests and game can become much less grindy.

Still hoping they give us a gimps into the modding and what it can truly do or maybe more of the world map and economy as we have not actually seen much apart from battles in game.

Sounds like Nahasa will be a good place for mid-game adventure. I love playing as mercenary, but it looks like Bannerlord will give plenty of opportunities for work in between the contracts. Both thumbs up and all that jazz

Hi my question is how long it takes you to write the dialogue and how you have to design it as well...................... Etad Esaeler Esaelp

Sounds like could be some fun battles between these lot and my light cavalry Battanians. Otherwise not too invested in the desert!

This is all good and well , but what about politics, diplomacy, kingdom management etc.

Best faction blog...quite fortunate inspiration choice!

EDIT: Whoooa just noticed the cavalry with adargas, you're definitely making our lives easier!

And I know for a fact Steve Negus is involved with the History bit, so here is my question:

Will we be able to write background descriptions/stories and events for characters and cities in order to improve our in game immersion? Perhaps a sort of ingame wiki? Thanks!

Oh and the icing on the cake:

"The Arabs were famously proud of their horses, and the Aserai breeds - produced by pastures in Aserai lands - will have unique characteristics".

Just amazing - for us, horse lovers, a delight. And for those who said horse breeds are a waste of time and called us reality freaks...the name of the game is MOUNT and Blade

They did mention something in the blog about 'events' impacting the internal politics of a kingdom. Presumably some factions (Vlandia, Aserai, possibly Battania) are more prone to this then others.

+1, and also love affairs. I hope wife's role will be more than standing feast simulator, or household access key.

Enjoying blog.

My question for next dev blog

on Warband multiplayer players join games just to kill people, get kicked then rejoin.

how will Team killing, team damage and banning on multiplayer work?

Well we also have our first look at both male and female character models (at least as far as the Asurai go). A larger shot can be gained from the webpage by clicking on it to magnify it.

blog_post_22_taleworldswebsite_03_575.jpg

I think both look very good, although the current camera shot has them seeming a bit dead-eye. I imagine that in game they will look more lively. Otherwise, it is a fantastic leap from what we were dealing with in Warband. There are many more notable facial features (wrinkles under the eye, better necklines), and the clothing looks suitably weathered and local.

And the horses depicted in the art and gameplay pictures look great, truly sleek and mobile beasts. But will we get camels?

Question for Steve Negus: Will marriages be included as a feature in Bannerlord? If so, will they differ from prior relations in Warband or have a larger effect on gameplay?

Ah, the Sarranids have always been one of my favourite factions, and the Aserai will probably surpass them. I just love their equipment - it's so colorful and awesome looking. Chances are my first playthrough will probably be with the Aserai, even though the Empire (i've always been a fan or Rome and Byzantine) intrigues me to a high degree as well.

You probably won't do this since you know your history, but just to be sure; do not give them curved swords as curved swords didn't become commonplace until the 14-15th century (maybe even later).

Q & A can you give an answer to my following order?
Tell me/us the release date or date of release date reveal.

If not, here are some lame Q&A questions:

1:grin:oes companions/heroes have an even more indepth personal background than in warband?

2:Also, will there be as much or more interesthing things to know about Calradia both present time and history compared to warband? As from companions, travellers, and more

Not sure what you meant? Some curved swords exist since immemorial times, like falcatas. Shamshirs, like talwars and kilijs were widespread way before that.

They already do have "curved swords" that you can see from footage. Also, be sure to not mix up sabres with scimitars;
"The curved sword or "scimitar" was widespread throughout the Middle East from at least the Ottoman period, with early examples dating to Abbasid era (9th century) Khurasan."
