And for some people, this might mean turning to a life of crime to facilitate their rise to power. But, just like in real life, there are consequences to your actions and crimes do not go unpunished... unless you position yourself to be above the law, of course.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/96

That was a good blog, and holy crap the overmap sea with the sun on reflection on it. It looks beautiful.

Question for next week: In warband there were levels that we would fight on which included upward hills. The characters would all turn to walking mode, how do you battle this in Bannerlord? Also, with ambushes being removed, what geographical advantages are there for factions to take of on levels?

Lastly, I want to make a suggestion for a blog in the short future. We know there is a replay system in the game. Could you please give us information on what progress has been made on it? I love seeing what people make with movie editors in games, is it usable in single player or multiplayer only etc.

I became really excited when I saw the title of this post. A bit disheartened at the lacking content (opinion). I am really excited to play as a bandit lord and wanted to know more about being able to recruit or manage "gangs" or bandit parties and if that would even be a thing. I've always wanted to see the prospect of being an outlaw bandit lord fleshed out a lot more in the MB games.

If everything there is on paper is going to be able to take place, oh boy... This broadens the known horizon because it's a very good addition Taleworlds.

Now it's time to explain the other side of the coin: Gang System / Criminal operations...We have gone from this:

Developer Blog 13 - Weekending
When we wander into the backstreets, we are confronted by a group of thugs and the dialogue is automatically initiated by the gang leader. The main advantage of engaging in crime is to make money quickly. It is cheaper and provides a faster return than a legitimate business. However, engaging in criminal activity while rising up the ranks of a faction increasingly puts the player in a difficult position. Regardless, the player can still choose to take part in criminal activity, at any time, even as a King; there are always costs and benefits.

So we won't be able to steal things in the open area, such as markets and taverns and then run away from guards outside the city or to our newly gang of criminals ? Why not add a small feature as stealing in town? Because smuggling is such will be done by placing your outlaws in the city but if it's only that, then there are basically nothing new for bandits like roleplaying? Why not make sure that if you are an extreme criminals most of the outlaws will try to be friendly with you and join you easily or have some underground market with slaves and such. You have so much options to explore.

Welp, as long as your tools will give us ways to add such things for modders, it will be enough honestly. We will do the job if needed!

Otherwise average blog!

A good crime story among war quests will be something totally awesome
Wonder if there will be posibility to have a hideout for me and my bandit crew and our spoils ofcourse :fruity: :fruity: :fruity:
Will I be chased by bounty hunters on campaing map? Will other bandits atack a fellow scum? Shall I be able to kill and steal silently?
So many questions...

Hey, neat. Is there any way to use this enhanced system against other lords?
Maybe by framing them or enabling specific actions against them (such as bringing them to justice yourself)?

Interesting blog. I’m glad TW hasn’t baulked at capital punishment.

So, as clan leader, is the player tainted by the criminal acts of his clan members (i.e. brother, companions etc.)? If not, will delegating back-alley protection rackets to a companion keep the ill gotten gains without risking a noose?

Will the player know how deeply he’s in trouble via some game meter or will he have to rely on assessing it from the size of the bounties on his wanted posters?

Like many real-life criminals, I won’t piss on my doorstep. My crimes will be over the border in another faction where I can assess the system and flee if need be. Hopefully, I can buy absolution for most sins.

Will our troops defend us against manhunters and bounty hunters or will these be personal duels like Warband’s night bandit ambushes? The later would make everyone vulnerable, but I prefer battles between my outlaw band and an avenging Lord’s war party - more in the spirit of an outlaw warlord.

Will association with one of the criminal minor factions such as the Hidden Hand provide any greater immunity from prosecution or at least provide more opportunities for prison breaks?

In Warband as an independent (non-vassal), you could besiege and take a castle. This irritated the faction, depressing your relationship and they’d attempt to get it back etc. However, if they captured you it wasn’t a gallows crime - presumably that all changes in Bannerlord. What else will Bannerlord criminalise? How serious a crime is eloping with a king’s daughter or just kidnapping her for ransom?

In Warband, any criminal activity we could perform was limited in usefulness to the very early game. It was just a way of gaining some quick cash early on so that you could afford to recruit and maintain your war party, or buy a productive enterprise that would effectively do the same without such negative repercussions. There was no 'path through the game' as a criminal. You couldn't make progress like that.

The crucial thing for this in Bannerlord is whether or not crime is a genuine 'career'. Can you actually gain power and influence, make progress in the game, through crime, or is it just for some extra cash?

Don’t assume Bannerlord defines crime the same way as Warband. Previously as a vassal, we could attack a peaceful neighbour to incite a war, which would lose relations with our own king and the faction attacked. However, it may now, in Bannerlord, be sufficiently criminal to put a noose around our necks on both sides of the border. We need a clearer definition of crime.

Hello !
Good blog, thank you !

Just two quick questions :
- Will we be able to capture Lords who commit crimes to turn them over to Justice ? Kind of like a bounty hunter ? For example, a Lord from Vlandia attacks villagers and caravans from Sturgia. If I am a Lord of the Empire, could I hunt the Vlandian and deliver him to Sturgia ?
- As a King, can you influence their sentence and ask for their execution or drop the charges ? (if you ask to execute a criminal Lord who hasn't done enough severe crimes to deserve this punishment, you could be challenged by his/her family who will leave your country or try to overthrow you and meet the opposition of other Lords who didn't hated him/her. If you drop the charges, it could displease your vassals and the population of the realm and give a boost to local criminal activities)

Thank you !

There was a lot of talk about concequences... but why do we have to get caught? Surely if we want to be a good criminal, then we make sure no one catches us, rather than pay everyone off. It's not illegal if no one sees it. :fruity:
