We decided to answer a few more than we originally anticipated, and so, we thought it would be best to save the campaign gameplay video until next week's blog instead (our apologies if that is what you are here for!). We hope that these direct and honest answers will give you an insight into what is happening with the beta and a greater understanding of what to expect from early access. So, without further ado, let's get to it, shall we?

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/125

Hair physics wasn’t a priority since it is difficult to get right and you are usually wearing a helmet anyway. However, it is something we can look into if we can find the time.

I am disappointed that Bannerlord will be continuing the Warband policy of giving every hemet a coif to avoid hair clipping. I understand it’s very difficult:

1. A single coif can be made for an individual helmet vs the need for each helmet to cope with every hairstyle in the game.
2. Removing hair and replacing it with a coif avoids the need to truncate different hairstyles at lots of different helmet levels to avoid hair clipping through metal.
3. Options are complicated by the need for hair to have different colours for different players/NPCs.

I hope that you find time to implement an alternative solution. My holy grail is a helmet without a coif and hair flapping below it.

Most helmets should have a coif, but god damn it would be cool if, with long hair, it would stick out

There was a noticeable absence of banners in the battles shown at Gamescom. Have these been removed? Or was it just a temporary measure?

Banners and banner bearers will definitely come back as even better and more polished than before.
Very good. Thanks for the reply!

We were planning to offer a banner editor, however, we eventually decided to limit it such that each clan has a specific charge with the colour scheme of the banner being determined by the kingdom. This has the advantage that it gives clans within a kingdom a more uniform look while retaining their character. Having said that, we already have quite a variety of different charge designs and it is a great idea to let the player select from unique ones that are not used by any existing clan!
I actually understand the decision to use the same color scheme for a faction but it does create a lack of diversity between clans. I'd rather have a multitude of color schemes and cool looking banners tbh. Giving parties on the world map different colors works fine.

Mount and Blade is actually pretty popular in China, I wouldn't be surprised if its multiplayer scene was the largest behind EU and NA. Hopefully Taleworlds can put up at least a few servers in the less populated regions, at least until we can set up dedicated servers.

I can't answer for the competitive scene in China, but at peak times for public servers: even Australia (with New Zealand, which combined has a total population of ~30,000,000) often has more people playing than China (which has 1,400,000,000 people + Other East Asian countries which don't have their own servers).

Of course I'm not saying that China shouldn't have servers or anything, but AU/NZ has ~1/50th(Yes, barely 2%) of the population(not including everywhere else nearby China too), and in total net terms(not even in per-capita) seems to be just as popular (or almost, anyway). We still pull hundreds of people for events. I don't have the exact numbers of any other regions, but Australia isn't so small as many probably think. It is smaller, but not so much as to be ignored.

Completely agree. I know a ton of Australians who would agree, and would really like some info on this, so if Callum could get back to us it would be massively appreciated. So far I haven't seen any indication that we will be getting Australian based servers for the Beta or upon release.

+1to Sundeki and pete99.
The lack of information regarding legitimate enquiries about Beta and future servers for Aus / NZ and Oceania is not very forthcoming at all. Please address this Talewords...

I agree. Having the clans within a faction visually distinct would add a lot of character to the battlefield. You could think things like: "Look! the lads of fen Urial are charging the Corenios dogs!"

Battlefields might look more chaotic, and it would take time to learn the various clan colours and insignia, i.e. learn to read the field, but that would actually be a lot of fun, I think.

Will we be able to host dedicated servers in early access?

This probably won’t be possible at the very beginning of EA.

So no clan battles allowed in EA.Without dedicated servers how multiplayer comminty can grow.If there is no allowence of dedicated servers there is no point of multiplayer and community. Also for the multiplayer mods.

For the love of Gosh, get rid of factional recruits having vivid colors for their tunic/shirts. Give them more peasantry colors - browns, whites, tans with maybe some highlights (a colored rag or something). Quite the eye sore.

I suppose sooner or later I'm going to get banned for spam, but since nobody is responding:

What regions will you be providing servers for in the Beta, and specifically: will my region (Australia) have servers (both matchmaking and casual) servers? Will Australians even be involved in the beta at all?

I'm not going to stop asking.

I have moved to Australia since my old Warband days so I would like to know this too. Would be a shame if there were no Oceania servers for the closed beta, would be a bad joke if there were not by the EA. Especially given what was said in the dev blog about private servers probably not being possible when early access comes out. Seems a strange decision that one.

I demand a key on behalf of all the inverse players that haven't already gotten into the beta; we are a minority in this game and we need our perspective to be told.

Inverse isn't as good in Bannerlord as Warband, there are actually some difficulties with it and the stance system
All the more reason why more inverse players should be let in, me specifically. :fruity:

Apparently the banner editor is there, but it seems that we select from pre-made charges (sigils) and maybe we choose the type of field (solid, stripe, chevron, etc.). However it doesn't look like we can create/import our own sigils, nor can we select colors for our clan. Not that in-depth of a banner editor, especially considering that the name of this game is... well... Bannerlord. But hey, it's better than nothing.
Better than nothing but worse than what we had in Warband.

This is clearly a step back, it was bad enough that you made all clans share the factions colours, now we can't design banners without mods. I can't tell if this is laziness or simply TW casualizing the game.
It's certain players won't be able to tell who their allies are without having their troops bright blue and the enemies bright red

I agree, it does sound like a means to make the game more casual, but it really breaks immersion for me. This is the 11th century not the 19th century with pretty uniforms.

I just came to watch the video and ... okay.

On the other hand, when Taleworlds discards the "maybe", "possibly", "probably", "eventually", "soon"...maybe and only maybe we will know what they mean by "basic features" and which will be turned off. Most people are happy that the game will be released in March; however, stop the euphemisms and ambiguities and start speaking clearly and concisely.

Any chance we get portuguese language in the full release?

That's what I want most, the sixth most spoken language in the world can't be left out. Please Callun the Lusófona community deserves this affection.

ps: as you can see my english is bad so BL needs to have a language in Portuguese, Pt-Br please

Well I guess we'll need modders to create a banner editor and actually bring back the thousand million banners back in the game, cmon Taleworlds, carrying your own banner was a great feature, why in the hell would you limit that in the main game

...how shall I take a banner from a scheme, if I start my own Kingdom without aligning myself to others prior to that.

Good point. What are the options when creating a new kingdom? A custom colour would seem in order, even if picked from some pre-selected options.
My thoughts exactly. Since every faction has its own unique color then logic dictates that when you declare your own kingdom you would be able to select your faction color. It would be incomprehensible if this is not the case.

Hmmm.... 200 plus designs... not nothing... however... not satisfactory.
