Yes, we will be attending Gamescom in Cologne, Germany this August (no surprise there, eh!).

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/108

Don't mix 'beta' with beta. TW is much more likely to release a version of game that is unfinished and in need of community feedback regarding bugs/balance rather than have a publicity stunt with silly name.

Callum, do we have any more information on how the beta will be distributed? Like what chance do any of us have of being able to partake in it?

I can't share too many details right now, but what I can say is that we plan to start out small while we test our systems, before scaling it up to many more players. If you are active around here on the forums, then I'm pretty sure you won't miss out!

so basically someone like me who stalked the news page of taleworlds for bannerlord related news every sunday since 2012 (before you made this Thursday weekly blog thing) in the hopes of news has basically almost no chance to join the beta because I do not pay attention/post at the forums cause you base it on activity here? now that seems fun :fruity:

on a serious note though. everyone whos attending gamescom and/or is lucky enough to be part of the beta enjoy your experience to the fullest. you have a priviledge many people are desperate for

The forums are the best way to engage with the devs.

I’ve been playing M&B since the demo based in Zendar, yet I only made a forum account in 2015 even though I’ve been following Bannerlord since the start.

It’s not too late to become a very active member of these forums.

Note that the beta is multiplayer, so "active around the forums" means "regular ****posting on the multiplayer boards while sometimes playing multiplayer". Your single player forum activities or centuries of lurking don't count for the purpose of this beta.
Maybe it's not too late to start now. Try getting banned on a server and post a severely misleading unban appeal for a start. Then make a list of best players with the sole purpose of making people angry. Your chances of making the beta shortlist will increase dramatically. :iamamoron:

To be fair Rodrigo you should not present this speculation of yours as fact. People might believe you with that rank of yours. "Active on forums" does not specify multiplayer forums, and it makes even less sense if you consider that it was said for a post in the Bannerlord forums...

Apart from the jokes, the context IS all-important. Multiplayer beta? They are looking for good multiplayer players with solid record still active on the forums, not random people that are merely curious about Bannerlord.
My rank means everything I post is literally true. Either that, or that I have spent way too much time on this forum.

If clarification is needed, my red flag means more than Vader's pokey stick.

The method for selecting beta players has not been announced (or decided, as far as I know), and all we have to go on is that Callum said users of this forum will be prioritized.

I understand this is an emotional issue for desperate fans, but multiplayer betas are usually not fan service.
They are work. Balancing, bug finding work. And for this, you need good players that know Warband MP combat very well and are interested in making Bannerlord MP combat better. Random peeps may get into it only to make up the numbers when they try to stress test the bloody thing.
I would not read too much into "active around here on the forums" and get my hopes up. Callum comes from the Warband MP scene and knows who is going to call to help out (people like Orion, so go bug him to get a sneak peek :shifty:).
So here's a good guess (please note the size and beauty of my forum rank stick): first they are going to involve well-known MP players to get the combat right (this may take a while); then they might get some interested fans involved to spread a bit of good will and stress test. Maybe.

So much so that:
I have a billion years in experience with Warband/M&B, but I hate it's MP so I've never got into really playing it, and I was one of the first idiots to say that I'm not fit to play the Beta, unless they want me to talk about stuff that isn't really related to MP but rather the raw combat or random rants about random stuff that means nothing to the MP community, if I were to get selected I would still keep telling people that, even with the fact that I have some formation in Game Development and enough experience with game mechanics that surpass many people entire lives who recently registered at the forums.
So yeah, it doesn't make sense, it makes even less sense people being "desperate" to play a video-game, for crying out loud, we all have better things to do than playing video games, and if you are desperate for entertainment, mate, you should not be seeking games but rather therapy of some sort.

okay, you try to opt out of taking a dump, or sleeping in favor of gaming, let's see how long it lasts!

I mean we certainly have all kinds of other things to do other than playing video games, no doubt. But are they essentially better than playing video games? Not all of them, certainly

I play multiplayer etc. but do not care much for that side of the forum. I think there are many experienced M&B players on this bannerlord side of the forum who are very good at combat and would enjoy playing the beta, but also provide helpful feedback (the combat does not differ between singleplayer and multiplayer).

I know, but none of the SP players will understand combat well enough when compared to MP vets... It's just how it is in any videogame ever. SP Combat is overly simplistic, MP combat has people pushing so hard on it that they are the ones to learn exploits, tricks, optimized ways of finishing opponents faster, so on so forth... So they are the really reliable people to give decent feedback on Combat balancing, while SP dudes like me are like the "casuals" who know nothing and would likely get wrecked in MP like a piñata... If a game gets balanced around Casuals, the combat sucks, and that's the raw truth...

I think what he's saying is that there are many players who play multiplayer regularly but are simply not very active on the Warband multiplayer forum section, like myself.

Exactly. Activity on multiplayer forums doesn't automatically mean being good at combat.

My bet is this beta is focused on small servers for 8 players at once, so they invite some 20 well known MP players and see how it works out, and keep inviting fresh players if servers are empty.
