But the devil is in the details, and sometimes what makes a game live and breathe are the small things: not the main characters and impressive buildings, but day-to-day objects such as tools, weapons, and clothes. Gameplay can be as immersive as can be to make you feel like a medieval warrior, but if you’re clothed in sweatpants and the world around you is made of cardboard, immersion jumps out of the window. Today, we talk with one of our 3D artists, Ülker Dikmen, who is one of the people responsible for making Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord not just beautiful, but also a believable world.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/84

They actually delete comments. I guess only comments they want people to read stay.

Considering your comment only focused on the Developer's body and not the actual Developer Blog content, I support the Moderator's decision of removing your comment.

there was nothing wrong with my comment. others that said similar things stayed. they didn't like what i said after that i assume. most likely the part about distracting the masses

Check again - other people’s comments were about the creations, not the creator - entirely different.

well the one is talking about marrying her in game. I guess marriage isn't as bad as a complement.... pretty sure there were others before i posted mine, but i forget. My comment was directly related to this blog and all the others. That's basically what these blogs are for. Informing us what is going on so people would stop complaining about them being so quite.(keeping us busy with stuff to look at and read while they finish the game). No need to get so salty off one little joke. I suppose if i used the word GIF instead of girl it would have been ok.....

"My comment was directly related to this blog and all the others". Other than your comment being about the dev in this blog's Q&A, it had nothing to do with the blog's content. Your comment was solely about unnecessarily appreciating the dev's appearance and nothing else. Not only that but it broke a rule. Its deletion was justified.

stop with the pyramids, it is boring and trying on the eyes.

If you dont understand it those posts were talking about the girl in the gif, the NPC, the fictional character showed in the blog. Got it?

ANARCHY WHY YOU CONTINUE

Also, your comment was definitely the first one. I only remember that because, immediately upon seeing the pic, I said to myself "Please don't let this blog devolve into that" only to see the very first comment (yours) doing exactly that. Luckily, we managed to steer the conversation back on course, much like I will attempt to do now.

My laptop crashed a few times while trying to view the gif (I don't game on it), but eventually I was able to watch it. Stunning work! How applicable would these animations be for a typical npc? I.e., would a guard outside the castle gate be able to, say, breathe on his hands if it's winter, or try to lean into the shade during the summer? These small things aren't important in the grand scheme of the game, but would be really cool if they were included.

No, it wasn't. The person who made that comment was NPC99. Here's the full exchange:

Awesome clothing, skinning, cloth physics and idle animations. My game persona is in love. Where can I track her down? What’s her favourite poem? Given Bannerlord’s modding potential, I promise to bring colour back into her life.

Dont be fooled mate thats Kelly Bundy in a waif's outfit. Your poetry will fail you unless it Trent Reznor styled black chaos dissonance. She got bad boy syndrome fo sho.

If that’s the case, I’ll swallow my honour and code a game cheat to win her hand regardless.
Check the spoiler.

Think what you want, but you aren't being persecuted here.

So will we get to marry you in-game? That's a very nice character model, should be some lord's princess.
This is the one i'm talking about. I wasn't talking about flip or npc99. I assumed the character model was the 3D artist. The joke wasn't about the girl but about how long its taking for the game to come out and them continually distracting us with these tiny snips of info. I feel you don't even remember what i said. Her work looks good of course and I didn't mean to intentionally subjectify her. IMO I didn't. I'm continuing because we are having a conversation. I will reply to anyone who quotes or talks to/about me. Also I'm not sure what rule i have broken. Where can i view them so i don't break any.

Well, the moderator stated that it wasn't allowed, so it may or may not be an explicitly stated rule, but since what the moderators say is as good as the rules, I'd say it doesn't matter. Not sure about where to view the rules though.

here

It is not currently explicitly stated anywhere (beyond some earlier dev blogs), which is why noone was warned and we simply removed the post and explained that it's not permitted.

Now... Please do get back to the actual blog :p

The problem with getting good devblogs is the first page or two tend to be filled with "awesome blog, glad we finally got something that answered our questions", and then the rest is complaining about moderation, forum rules, or TW's apparent scheme to rob us of all of our time by not releasing the game . Maybe including a sneak peek at the next week would give us something to speculate on if we get a nice, juicy devblog that doesn't really leave much to discuss?

I’d be interested to know how long it takes to add cloth physics to an existing garment and how long it takes to bake global illumination into a scene. Neither of these additional tasks are required when modding Warband. Hopefully rising graphical standards and increased workloads won’t significantly deter people from modding Bannerlord.

Yes, there are some interesting questions about the main theme of the blog that unfortunately have been left behind due to decentralized. I collect them in case a dev comes here and wants to share information with us... :iamamoron:

Monoolho: I am curious if the cloth physics apply equally to all clothes, including armors, or if there are different kinds of values, sliders or cloth types, so heavier long clothes are more weighty...

NPC99. Big flags are a major plus in Bannerlord. Even at a distance static flags would be obvious. Do they change from cloth physics to animated shaders at a distance or will TW maintain cloth physics for them? Or are they rippled at all distances by an animated shader as opposed to cloth physics?

Me:There is a substantial difference in reference to resource consumption of the cpu and fps relationship when the physics are activated and when they are not?.
When applying physics to cloth, are they sensitive to scene colliders?
The inverse kinematics and the cloth physics can interact with each other?

Must have missed that one. Thanks for pointing it out.

Are you a betting man?

@Terco, I'm particularly interested in the last question myself. If other games are anything to go by, cloth physics simulation would be handled on GPU rather than CPU. Players with older & entry-level GPUs would likely have to turn off cloth physics to maintain stable performance, if I had to guess. Some games have options to limit cloth physics and similar bits to specific things, like just the player character or only characters within a certain radius. Maybe we'll see some limited enabling options. What I want to know specifically is how cloth physics interact with the environment. Clipping of objects in motion is a visual distraction that would get rather annoying.

It would be fun to see poor in rags, while the emperor queens wear purple with lots of accessories. And maybe a quest to find fancy clothes and design uniforms for customized troops.

Well, at the moment it looks bad, apparently.
Notice the wild clipping of the gif 1 and how it affects the pj in the gif 2 (in particular how the layer interacts with the arrows).

But of course, it may not be implemented yet. :iamamoron:

There will always be a level of clipping. To be honest those gifs look acceptable to me. I’m more worried about the back mounted spears and shields that poke through cloaks.

will height/weight affect the running speed and hitbox of the character? or will it be more like super small and fast dwarf OP?

I would like if they didnt make it too realistic (so not everybody looks the same) and a shorter person should be harder to hit where as a taller person have longer reach. The speed shouldnt change
