Desert warfare

Hey everyone, as you can see im new to these forums, however i have been reading them and playing mousnt and blade for quite some time now.

What ive been thinking would make an amazing addition would be desert terrain, i know there is a new terrain which is almost a desert, but im talking sand and nothing else. Now this doesn't sound too interesting, however what i would most like to see is Camels. I mean camels were used as pack animals, so could be kept in your inventory to act like a sumpter horse, or they could be equipped to increase movement in desert terrain.

But also i would love to see War Camels. Now im not to great on the Histroy of camel warfare, but im fairly sure that they were used during the middle ages.

Anyway im sorry if this seems a bit confused. Cheers.

Joe

I would love to see Camels in the game though admittedly they would have a limited usefulness outside of the desert. Sure they scare horses but they're bloody slow on everything bar (in a comparitive sense) sand.

yeah would be good.. i actually suggested camels (both dromearies and bactrians), elephants, donkeys and war dogs a while back but nobody cared

Adding desert would be a hugh move, since not only does it involve having more items\camels etc, but if you want it to be realistic than you'll need to make light cavalry supirior in that tarrein (to all who think i'm wrong go read about the battle of Horns of Hittim), a thing that shall require moch progremming... I think that idea won't be used.

camels would be pretty cool, except it seems you be kind of high up for combat with a sword or anything. and as for elephants, that would be, for lack of a better word, frickin' sweet! you probably wouldn't be able to use melee weapons on them, but they would need to have immense charge damage, and be fairly slow, armored, and unmanuverable. And i think if both creatures are rare or specific to certain regions they should give a morale drop to the opposing forces (once morale is added, that is) since they're being attacked by creatures they'd never seen or heard about before, or heard about only in legend.

Riding camels across vast desserts would be really cool.

Camels will need some sort of bonus against horses. I think I read somewhere that horses who were unfamiliar with camels didn't want to get near them.

Have you ever rode on a camel? Five minutes and your legs hurt. They're much... wider than horses.

But I like 'em. And I like the idea of having 'em in game too. It'd be nice. Oh yes.

camels are actuall bloody fast on sand, like on a par with the horses.

I know...hence the bar sand.

The reason I say comparitively is that they are on a par with horses on sand but neither moves particularly quickly on sand because it's more difficult for horses to move. A camel on it's optimum terrain and a horse on it's optimum terrain would end with the horse being faster.

Yeah. Only in a comparitive sense. Because their home environment mustn't be thought of as being limited to, or in many cases even including, sweeping sand dunes. They're fast on most any terrain. Not as fast as a horse in a dead run, but when it comes to endurance the horse is left crying in the dust.

Heh. There isn't much that would want to go near an unfamiliar slobbering, farting, spitting thing that's prone to moodiness and makes a lot of noise at the best of times. Although... many women seem to marry such things. Oh well.

Which is why you don't ride them like horses. Camels are much more comfortable to ride in a sort of side-saddle. It's traditional, too. Just ask Lawrence:

Elefants are very fast, they are also vulnerable to melee weapons on the back of their legs, there are/were some african tribes who hunted them by hiting them there.

Hamstringing, yeah. Elephants would be a great adition to M&B 2, if the situation warrants it.

Until then it'd be too difficult, given the terrain and scope of the battle regions.

dude camels where amazing in the far east during mid ages, no lances but they were ****in beastes, if they were implemented into the game they would be like a tank, alot of health and lotta charge but very little turn.NO LANCES
