Definite Change Needed to The Bandit Camp Ambush Quests

I had a party of 72 elite soldiers. I received the quest to take out a bandit camp, assumed it would be very easy. I wait until night to ambush and apparently in an ambush you only bring 12 soldiers? Whatever, fine. The bandit camp has 50 bandits, high tier mountain bandits who slew my elite marksmen by 360 no-scoping them with javelins while my "marksmen" missed every bolt. After losing the battle my ENTIRE party is now contained in this **** camp. Makes no sense, there is no tactical reason to not bringing your entire army for an ambush, it also doesn't make sense, that with my overwhelming power I should be able to storm it during the day.

Yeah, this ^^

The dragon banner quest - I had to raid a forest bandit hideout containing 37 enemies with a party of just 7 including me - 4 companions + 2 random soldiers. Why?

After 3 attempts, killing a number of them but losing each time I thought I'd rest up and keep going back until the odds evened a little...but no they just respawn a full camp.

I have 75 soldiers mostly T5 & T4...why do I have to assault the camp with so few? Surely the number of troops you bring should scale with the number you face? I don't mind being outnumbered but 5-1 against is not good odds especially facing ranged enemies.

release your companions, they are weak.

Train 12 non-archery dudes to T5. Put the game on 1/3 dmg. Pull the camps one at a time. Too easy.

I agree. I won't even attempt these camps, 50 sea raiders or 5 of my guys? yeah, no thanks.

Before you attack the camp you can "camp" it and wait for some of the dudes to leave.

Yeah the bandit camps are super broken. We should be able to bring more/all of our troops in and select specifically which troops we want. Its super dumb that we can't, maybe they assigned an intern to designing that part of the game and forgot to check their work afterwards. Whatever, at least they can fix it now. Also when we enter a bandit camp, and get downed, but our troops continue and kill the rest of the bandits, that's a victory. Currently the game considers it a loss which, as far as I'm concerned, is a pretty game-breaking bug. There's no way you're going to convince me that my troops standing over the slain corpses of every bandit in the camp is anything but a success. If you die in a battle and your troops go on to win the fight, that counts as a victory. Bandit camps are just bugged. Early access, I guess. I'm sure TaleWorlds is working on fixing these things as we speak.

Lot of work around for no reason.
I personally just left the camp sit for a month and went back. It was down to 7 troops, so I took it.

I am actually enjoying the quest. First time I just followed my guys and we attacked each little camp one-by-one, then drawing in the randos walking around. Waaay easier than in Warband.

It would be better if the bandit camp was a natural defensible structure with bottle necks and ambush points.
And, if you showed up at the front door with too many soldiers, then the bandits would escape out the back lest you had enough soldiers to cover all exits.

Nice.

Firstly the companions were the best from what was on offer and they don't seem to level. Secondly I have lots of T5 infantry but you don't get to pick who is in your raiding party. Thirdly, with 12 I could probably do it, I have 7 including me.

Anyway I managed it in the end after lot's of trial and error but it shouldn't have been like this...scale the number of troops and allow us to pick who we bring.

I understand the gameplay argument in that you, for some reason, will not just be able to clear out bandits as if they were a stationary minor army. And that monitoring the lair over time and finding when their larger groups are in the open and you can strike at the lair... it makes sense. It's a sort of standoff situation.

I do think that bandits do not seem to be subject to a viable economy. I simply slaughter them time and again, exctrating loots in the thosands of gold. If my villages had a third of the productivity and work ethics of bandits, they'd be blooming in no time.

Yeah, I understand not being able to just steamroller them and I don't mind the mechanic of bringing a small party to clear them out.

I did stake out their hideout and intercepted a group of 12 that had left, beat them, went back and the hideout was at full strength.

The implementation of bandit camps is not great and it is clearly bugged / not working as intended. I'm sure it will get looked at in time.

The problem really is that bandit hideouts are essentially your transition into mid game and that special sneak attack is fun the first five times, but when it is essentially your main stay until you become a mercenary or lord after you build up your party it gets boring and frustrating as you need battles where your recruits can gain XP.

The core gameplay loop is build up money and xp, build army, find battles, do battle, loot, repeat.

The missions are just to aid in getting started and cannot replace the above loop which is getting important from mid game on as you recruit your future army. As such, sure, let some special quest be this hideout battle for early game to build your character or gain some short cash/relations, but otherwise everything about bandits should be part of the core gameplay loop. not play like a quest.

You can kill a few bandits in the camp and leave the map, but they often just get injured rather than dying then they recover before you can attack again

Bandits camp should NOT exist in this game, or be completly reworker. I just failed a quest for the ninth time before giving it up where I had to take out 48 bandits archers with 8 soilders. Yeah, so much for the genious who came up with this tactic.
