on the field they also look at quality of troops. and if you fill it with 200 recruits and several lords with a total of 500 or so come in, you`ll be sorry for not training those recruits. put some serious troops in there and you might actually keep the castle. If you have just one with a lot of high tiers inside, wages shouldn`t be that high. My own currently has about 200 marksmen, 160 or so skirmishers and 4 forest bandits( ). I go around with a gang of about 50 skirmishers and archers to level them up and make money. If you want cash, get your Looting high and go hunt sea raiders.Lizard_man said:yeah am sure you need something like a 120 to 140 troops in a castle, the enemy don't normally attack then, someone said they look at quantity and now quality when attacking castles, so just fill it up with something like 120 recruits, this seemed to work for me anyways, plus if you had higher tier troops in your many castles, wage's would get expensive
Lizard_man said:my castle seems to be the main target for all my enemy's after just capturing it, i'd be gathering recruits, traveling back and fourth, my castle is under attack, win that battle luckily, go get some more recruits, under attack again, i almost lost it a few times, once i got the troops up to about 140, mostly recruits, some skirmishers, they didn't attack it again

1. gather an army of top tier missile troops and learn how to use them without casualties
2. increase your map speed as much as possible
3. before campaign starts, make sure to defeat as many lords as possible in the shortest possible order; this way they won`t have enough people for serious campaign
4. before campaign increase the survivability of your troops(Surgery) as much as possible
5. you might not decide to do this, but you can start a personal war with a faction without your faction being at war with them - this way even if they defeat you at your castle, you get to keep it, and if you have high surgery, most of your troops will survive
6. picking them apart is always a good idea, but only if you`re fast enough and beating them is not at prohibitive costs in manpower; this way a single army can stop an invasion force if that force is spotted while gathering and action is taken in due time.
Alburq castle currently has a garrison of about 350, 200+ of them marksmen, the rest skirmishers, and 4 forest bandits this is how I got to keep it.
