Decent All Round Laptop

Users who are viewing this thread

Alrighty people, Im getting a laptop (finally) for when I go off to uni, the budget is $2000 (AUS) I would like one that can do all the uni stuff I need to do, decent media wise (for editing surfing photos/movies) and I would also like one that is decent in the games department. Any suggesttions or ideas people? Is this possible with the budget or am I a wishful thinker?

P.S. I not that tech savy, but I do have some limited knowledge.

Its been a day with no reply so I thought I'd give it a bump, Ive been doing some research and was thinking about an alienware laptop, they seem preety good does anyone have some advise/recommendations?

This one is going for $879 AU buy it now and has pretty darn good specs. But the processor is fairly crappy

Seconded. Get a UL80VT if you can. It can run all but highest end "benchmark" games fairly well, but it's just small, quiet, and inconspicuous enough that people won't want to steal it on sight. Uninstall expressgate if you get one though.

Since you are going off to uni, why don't you assemble a decent desktop for about AUD 1300 and then get a netbook from acer for about AUD 300.
My first two years I've been gaming with a lappy and it just sucks.

Also, which uni are you getting shipped off to?

I also had a look at Imac pro has anyone tried playing any decent games on one? Im currently using a mac right now (seeing as my pc died and my mother is a douche and wanted one) and just use boot camp to run games.

And to reply to Cookie, Whatever Uni I get into, Preferable Griffith on the Goldy

If you are looking for bang for buck, you should generally stay away from Mac. Not talking about like it's a Pc vs Mac standoff, but Mac generally are overpriced carps.
