Deathcore

[Fall of Denial]

Alright, I've seen this little sub-genre increase in popularity quite a lot in my local areas (Phoenix, Arizona and Glendale), the internet, everyone's listening to it,  and I can't see why anyone would like it. I guess the pig squeals *can* be cool at times, and the breakdowns are okay, but I'm curious to know what you guys think of deathcore.

I use to be anti-core.

Now I can handle a little bit. I don't mind some deathcore/grindcore.

I saw this band White Chapel in January, they were pretty good.

I still prefer death/black/doom metal though.

I don't enjoy deathcore or any metal or music associated with death.
I do like some Queercore, though, since it was brought up.

Deathcore is what I call "Would-be metal for those ***** emo kids who can't stand the real stuff"  (KATAKLYSM FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!  )

Sounds pretty bad. Far too much violent sounds without enough good stuff. I mean, I prefer it to rap, but it's not very inventive. Just ... angsty and violent. Guess it's for those late teenagers.

Nice, but the only good death metal band I've ever seen is Amon Amarth (and they're "melodic death metal"). Though Power Metal will always have my heart. Also, anything with "core" in the name should die, along with the vaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast majority of black metal bands. (read: I say vast because the touchy kids don't get all angry - But In fact, I think all are utter ****e) And I just don't get what the **** doom metal is supposed to be.

Amon Marth basically founded Viking Metal, or at least the most well-known of the bands, so no, they're more than just Death Metal. I'd say Morbid Angel is excellent Death Metal, Black Metal is alright but in smaller doses, as most of it is more noise than anything else (there are some absolute gems of Satanistic hate, but they're few and far between the trash-can-banging-and-senseless-screaming bands and all the angsty kids going indie). Doom Metal is good too, I especially like Swallow the Sun.

For the mo, it's Drone Metal for me though !

Never heard of Drone metal but to tell you the truth Gothic Metal is my all time fave

I like some black metal bands, as well as death metal, but I prefer melodic death/viking/folk metal.

Of course, I like the old-school "heavy metal" stuff, and some power metal as well. All in good doses, as Selothi says.

I haven't heard of Drone Metal either... link Selothi?

EDIT: On topic, anything with core in it, is complete and utter ****e. Angsty american teens thinking they know what metal is. Pfah.

As the name implies, Drone Metal drones a lot. Long, very deep notes, pretty trance-inducing. I like it, pretty ****ing deep.
