The death knights apparently joined the side of nords in the battle and the swadian will be slaughtered of course.
I think the engine is to blame: the knights just wanted to attack someone but a battle is only 2 sided so they had to side with someone and they sided with the strongest.
Anyway, this kind of behaviour can have unforseen consequences and some of them may count a lot in the game so try to fix this if possible.

Or Mayhaps other way around the Rhods decided to join dark knights and fight swaids for the easy win lol

The rule here is the following : "The enemy of my enemy is my friend.". Looks like the Nords attacked the Swadian lord and then the DKs joined the fight on the attacker's side.

That's a strange one.  I guess they are forced to pick a side in that situation, even though technically they hate everybody
