Has anyone tried this game? It's an independently developed turn-based(!) combat racing game. You can register and start your own 'gang' of drivers. You can then play it on-line for free against a mix of npc and human opponents.

The game modes are race, death race, and combat. If you pay the subscription fee you get to buy your own cars and customize them. If you pay the free game you can only participate in low-pain, low-gain 'stock' games, where everyone is provided a 'loan-car'.

I just registered and played a few races yesterday. I seemed to be up against mostly npcs, though, so I don't know when people are the most active. Check out the video on the home-page: http://www.dark-wind.com

Intresting find, I'll try it, dunno if it will be anygood.

Edit: Aperently to do almost anything in that game you have to be a suscriber, so its not realy worth it.

I was in on the beta (it was pretty good and original), but I haven't played since the new subscription stuff.

jeansberg - how funny to find you here, too. Just knew this guy from DW! Communities can be so funny!

Btw, DW has now much more stuff to offer even without subscription. And its not just a bait to get subs.
Im playing DW for over 1 year now and Im still amazed about the way it develops further and further. And the community is damn nice too.

Not really amazing:

Spanking Runners was the first game I have played that featured turn-based combat racing

It is commercial, actually, but I have my own copy of it. It is in Russian, cool  Yep, you don't understand it
