Even though I didn't mind making it harder to get good troops...
It does bother that the black knights are kinda... impossible to beat.
Even with kickass gear and a lvl 46 (fighter based) character I can't beat them.

Would it be possible to get them toned down because they are a bit over the top concerning strength.
Also, can you make it so that we can join them? I always wanted to play evil IG.

Go to camp menu and then select-change settings(there u can stop them.....).But i dont think u can join them(Its pitty-i wanna join them too:grin:)

I dont mind the dark knights, dont get me wrong.. but they're just a tad bit TOO much overpowered.
I got a great fighting character.. I really do.. and I do 0 damage per hit... It takes me over 8 arrows to stop them.. doing around 40 dmg per hit.

A lot of their top armor is pretty much invulnerable to slashing damage.  Piercing damage can still get through.  They're still being balanced.

Stupid me hasnt saved on day 74 since I was so eager to have a look on those Dark Knights fella´s. So on day 75 spawns the army of hell. At least now I know how all those foes must have felt when a Horde of Paladins rushed them but wait - Dark Knights are worse than paladins. So I lured on of those Dark Lords into Khergit territory where Katilus was sieging Tulbuk Castle with a 500 strong army to even the odds a bit and started crying immediately. I had to autocalc the whole battle to have a slim chance. Only did the last round personally for my loot.

They have a bit too much Oompf for my taste. I cant see any player beating them regularily that early. They´re about lvl 50-60 with adequate skills and weapon profiencies and Paladin like gear in black.

Since you stated they were to be balanced here´s my thoughts:

-Set the default inavding day to 150-200
By that time the player should have built up enough elite troops and properties to survive a castle defense against them

-Half their intial starting armies or reduce for 25%

-Reduce (if possible) their lords retraining rate and amount of starting garrison troops/retraining rate.
They´re far from home and their troopers have levels and skills no other mortals possess - can´t have a defeated Lord spawn the day after battle in a total hostile
enviroment with 50+ troops again.
Right after they took it, they manned Almera Castle with 138 troops. How the heck? Since when are those Rhodoks growing gold instead of cabbage to raise such an
amount of elite crack troopers?

-Make them at war with every nation upon their pop into existence, not only Swadia and Rhodoks. They came to invade Calradia and should be everyone´s problem. Even
cooler was if they would split up and each of the Lords going for another faction and the Queen picking a random one.

These suggestions could be done rather easily since it would demand only minor tweaks to your already coded sections without disturbing the balance between the nations too much.

-Increase the amount of piercing/blunt damage dealing weapons in mid/top tier troops.

I guess that one would disturb the game balance between the four nations pretty much.

Right now, the only way I can see to defeat that horde is to lure them into pitched Town defense battles where your troops pepper them with arrows and infantry and dismounted knights and you bludgeon or poke them to death with your great big two handed hammer, pick or spear or overwhelm them with insane numbers to autocalc the first few rounds.

Thats just my impression. And I guess I´ll have to start a new game now - I consider them unbeatable in my current game.

You evidently haven't fought their commander in combat yet.

Level 63, 12 Powerstrike, 10 Ironflesh, 10 Athletics, 10 Riding, 10 Shield, 72 strength, 64 agility, 56 intelligence, 60 charisma, 120 Body Armour, 100 Leg Armour, 80 Head Armour, 72 base slashing damage, 56 base piercing damage.

I reckon I´ll give him a go once I looted a balanced knights lance, a spirited courser, riding skill 7 and a polearm proficiency of 400  Riding circles around him poking him to death, hehe.

I... I couldn't take down even one of them...... I had a tempered jeweled sword and 350 One handed weapon skill + 10 Power strike...

I feel... very small...

PS: it was a siege battle...

She's on a horse with 110 armour, 320 hit points, 51 speed, 51 manueverability, and 70 charge damage.

They start at war with the two closest nations to where they spawn, then after awhile they go to war with everyone else.  Where they start on the map is simi-random.

Hmm...been playing TLD for a bit, but I may have to try this out...that commander sounds like she might be a little fun in bed...guess I'll have to beat her up a bit beforehand though...

Masterwork Ivory Bow + Head shots should make quick work...I hope...

She absorbs 90% of piercing attacks and has...somewhere over 100 hit points. She also moves ridiculously fast and can one hit you while you're running away from her.

well...that's rather problematic then isn't it?  gotta make sure i stay on my horse rely on being able to outmaneuver the AI's Horsemanship

I'm curious if they can handle 200 Rangers pumping a ridiculous shower of arrows into their black troops

Of course the whole black knights thing is kind of an "easteregg" which can be found by default by every player after 75 days. I don't believe Merc and Jinnai are meaning this serious, it's just to offer some veteran players some challenge. That's why I would put the invasion on "never" by default. It's more a kind of "gag" than a new faction ment to fit into caladria. Look at the stats of their leader. That tells you everything.

(Although she is really really tough I doubt that she will survive a horse archer character with both power draw and horse archery 10, riding 10, profecience above 500, an ivory bow and a champion courser with speed 52  Take thaaaat, biatch! )

well since the masterwork ivory bow has a draw requirement of 8 i got my powerdraw up to 12 and ride a heavy charger since my main target is enemy archers survivability has been more important than speed.  I've been busy job hunting and watching old shows i've downloaded so i haven't gotten much time with .560, but i'm looking forward to seeing how my guy holds up

LOL I am wondering if you guys even thought out the dark knights, or you just randomly spun a wheel that had options ranging from Rhodok Native to Chuck Norris snorting powdered god, and landed on the latter?

Feanaro 说:
The truth is out. The Dark Knights are, in fact, the offspring of Chuck Norris.

actually from what i hear they are in fact the result of an epic battle between Chuck Norris and Ted Nugent.  when they fought the impact was so powerful that they actually fused, and became the only entity in existence capable of delivering a roundhouse kick from a compound bow.  Well, eventually Chuck Nugent or Ted Norris (there is no definitive information of the name of this being) settled down and married a mortal woman, the Dark Knights are their offspring.
