While most of Europe has moved - politically - to the right in recent years, Denmark moved left.
The election yesterday paved the way for a center-left government with the Social Democrats as leading party.

With promises of increased taxes and public spending Helle Thorning Schmidt will become the first female prime minister in Denmark.

(For those across the Atlantic: yes, it's ****ing socialism.)

As you noticed, Adorno, I celebrated the left success in the Dream Women thread.
A huge victory for the socialists.

Now are you moving to Denmark?

HIGHER taxes? I thought denmark had the highest taxes in Europe already
The past 10 years the right-wing conservative government has decreased taxes a lot, especially for house owners and companies.

Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer we'll keep the red flag flying here ...

^ This.

Additionally Higher taxes and spending don't demonstrate political sanity. It demonstrates a lack of economic creativity in dealing with the current situation imho.

No, I didn't mean more taxes is that good, I meant it was good that they're not choosing a Wilders-esque nationalist populist fearmongering piece of **** wahwahthebigbadmuslimstookourjerbs type party.

Yeah, the right-wing guys who are famous for being thinly-veiled racist had their first election with a decrease in votes. Hopefully a tendency that persists.

I'm not very optimistic about wide-eyed idealists, but neither am I for the cynical capitalism. The way lies somewhere in between. ****ed if I think that the state taking over Mærsk and Lego is a good idea, though. I mean, damn. Working another 12 minutes a day? Easy. Make it 30 it that's what it takes.

Isn't raising taxes a very predictable affair? In any case, not being creative isn't a sign of insanity.
