Daniel Johnston- Git or Virtuoso?

I recently watched part of the "The Devil and Daniel Johnston" documentary on him. Basically, he's a mentally deranged guy officially diagnosed as bipolar, but I suspect that's just among many other disorders, and he makes music and visual art. Being 46, he lives with his parents like we all aspire to.

His music is really simple; lots of three and four chord songs, and he doesn't change rhythm much. Strumming doesn't change either. Regardless, he has an interesting personality and life-story.

First heard a song of his on "Songs in the key of Z", a compilation of trashy outsider music made mostly by weird and insane people. I recommend that compilation for an interesting listening experience and a few laughs
But i liked that Daniels song and listened to some other stuff of his later.
I heard of that movie and thought about watching it sometime but i figured it would most likely be too depresive so i never did.

Anyway, You guys want to listen to real "Crazy and Deranged musical geniuses"? Try Peter Green ( Never a white man played and sang like this guy. And he was known for dressing like Jesus and shooting a suit that was trying to deliver a royalty check with an air gun several times) or Bob Dylan in his crazy years ( 65-66 before the nervous brakdown and motorcycle crash that would retire him for the next few years)  .

Not to mention Syd Barret... He's fat and lives with his old folks too.
