I am still - after all this time - getting used to 1.134.
By and large it's great - am however having to adjust to the way AI forces operate on the battlefield.
First off I sympathise with those who don't like strange AI behaviour because I am experiencing it myself-
You know - where the enemy army advances in a line abreast to the end of your flank all the while rotating to face you only to find itself pressed up against the limit of the battlefield bunching up and then charging in a disorganised rabble.
I am still trying to see the sense in this - I would prefer a group just coming at me tbh!
However I thought I would report my findings in fighting this pirouetting shambles.
I have a fair number of infantry but my stars are the archers - of which I have a very good group of horse archers including Companions - I position the infantry on the side closest to the enemy and send the horse archers behind the enemies furthest flank - as they hinge in I release the volley of arrows. The archers I tend to stand on the inside of the infantry shielded by them but able to shoot clearly too.
After the initial engagement I let the archers attack from the flank and realease the horse archers with blunts.
It's an observation - but a three pronged attack like this takes advantage of the AIs inflexibility while it's predictable tactics already put it at a huge disadvantage.
I wish paradox would sort it out.
