The reason I wanted it in this mod is so I could use this mod AND have the additional features of that.
 
If you download the cheat menu patch that someone made for native (this) and place it in the Customizable Troops folder, it should work fine.

I have more or less managed to do what I was hoping to do (keep things, rather than upgrade them)

I am now looking for more feature suggestions.
 
Tried that, and got some really retarded results. For one, I created a new savegame and when I talked to a party that came from Rivacheg, it said "You have encountered Jason's (MY PARTY) party of 79 (how many I had.). You have 79 troops against the enemies 79.

Then when I clicked "Charge" I would fight normal troops, but at the end of the battle it would repeat over and over into infinity.
 
My suggestion:

1) I highly recommend you to try to find a way to enable the uses of GUI inventory in your troops customizable mod.  For example, in a menu, it would ask you if you want to customize soldier's equpment and it would take you into GUI Inventory and you would be able to put any kind of equpment you bought for your troops.

2) Add new weapons/equipment to your mods, so you can have more fun customizing troops with more variables equipments.

3) Add the ability to develop your own faction (It wont be easy, but it is just my idea) at once when someone develop their own powerful troops to create their own empire.

For an idea with the faction creation, go look at my poll, "Starting your own faction" (something like that) I have some ideas in their.

This would work well with that. We could have our own troop trees!
 
I was playing the latest version of your mod and realized that 1 in 10 (approx) of my "soldiers" were carrying wooden swords/practice swords.   
All of my soldiers have been upgraded with lvl 5 gloves, swords, shields, horses, and armor and everything (to me) seemed equipped.      In fights the soldiers with the wooden swords knock people unconscious instead of killing them which tells me that it isn't just a texturing issue.

The mod is still playable so don't worry about it too much

Just thought I'd let you know

You install it as you would any mod without an installer:
1. download it
2. move the .rar archive to the \modules\ directory in your M&B directory
3. right click on the archive and select "extract here"
4. launch M&B, and in the dialog box select "customizable troops" instead of "native"
5. as soon as you enter Zendar, go to the 1st floor of the tavern to get a special blessing :wink:

Is it perhaps the "dummy sword" you put in their inventory to overcome the "melee_equipped" issue? You might want to revise its strength requirement, then (since it is possible to raise STR to the 50s range)...
 
Yeah, it seems that trying to raise the difficulty to 50, 100, even 1000 doesn't stop them from equipping it. I think I've stopped them from using it now, with a swift deleting of the itp_primary tag. I'll give it a try and see what happens.
EDIT: Yes, I have managed to fix it for the next version.

As for factions: sorry, but it's not really within the scope of this mod - well, unless the customizable troops broke off and formed their own faction, with the slight drawback that you'd make your enemy stronger each time you change your troops' equipments :razz:

New items to equip are perfectly doable (now I need types of item suggested :razz:), perhaps separating the helmets to a new subclass? EDIT: Yes, I think I shall do that first, but I still need more item ideas

The GUI thing, despite being a very good idea, can and would cause a large amount of unbalancing: Instead of paying 250+k denars to give everyone black armour (as with the current system), you could instead pay 5000 or so to get the same effect, unless black armour itself was raised to a ludicrous amount of money.


EDIT2: It is now officially official that you can have up to 8,437,500 different combinations of equipment!

Multiequipmental diversity. These particular troops are actually brave enough to fight barefoot :razz:

EDIT4: There would appear to be a problem with having over 70 dialog options (ie, error, but if you ignore, there's <70 options there, possibly leaving you stuck). I have decided that it's best to only let the player have 60 dialog options (that's still 12 different sets of 5 levels of upgrades equipable), then have a "sell" option which allows you to sell the equipment back, albeit for only half the price. This will also make it a tad easier for real (:wink:) players to upgrade their equipment
 
This is a great mod. Love to see it inserted into bigger mods. One thing though, is it neccisary to have 4 recruter/upgrader guys? I keep forgetting which Ioxx guy sells which troop. I'm always getting my Knight equpted guys when i wanted the Archer guys. :oops:
If the upgrades apply to all the troop types couldn't you have only 2 people, a upgrade seller and a troop recruter. It would make things easyer to get a few troops quickly.
 
Is it possible to have different kinds of troops, instead of going ALL to one kind? Like:

25 Knights
50 Archers
10 Cavalry

Instead of:

85 Knights OR 85 Archers OR 85 Cavalry
 
Yes. Hire two different troop types from two differnt upgraders, and then change their equipment.
Jigoku San: You can also talk to each troop type on the world map, so it might be easier to do that.

Update: I have finished helmets, and am putting some decoration on the little huts that the upgraders have.

The possibility exists, but you would need to convince AncientWanker to include Cymro's source code in his mod, and I doubt it since I've never read anything about "Wandering Soldiers" in LoTR  :grin:

You did buy some ranged weapons for them and then just didn't equip them?

Hmm. That's odd. I'd think it was mroe an engine fault than anything.

Nope, just one handers and shields, + armor, gloves, etc. But no ranged.
