Moscow Grenadier Regiment to replace the Preobrazhenskiy foot guards.

I wanted to make a regular grenadier skin set to replace the Pavlovsk grenadiers for a while, but that became unfeasible when I noticed that all the ranks of that regiment use the same headgear. Then I thought of replacing the Simbirsk infantry, but they share shakos with the Jaegers... that left the foot-guards, and really it's the most obvious choice: they have an in-game advantage in bayonet fighting and their hats already have plumes to exploit.

This is the first time I've actually played around with editing meshes, for the creation of the three-flamed grenade. I had to copy vertices and fiddle with rotation tools, and fix UV mapping! :shock: Nothing as fancy as the modelling going on this thread though.

The blue ribbons imposed over the eagle is an award to the regiment, and they read: "Съ нами Богъ" - "God is with us"; and "За взятіе знаменъ у французовъ при преслѣдованіи за рѣку Нуру 1799 г." - "For the capture of French banners during the harassment operation at the Nure River in 1799." Not that anyone could read that blurry mess when all is said and done. It's a reference to the operation of pursuit Suvorov conducted after the battle of Trebbia when McDonald began his retreat to Genoa in the War of the Second Coalition.

This mod is not currently compatible with my artillery reskin.

EDIT 3: Version 1.1 is up, the flags are still blurry, but at least they don't look like a 12 year old wrote the text. I also fixed the chest-straps, they overlap the rolled coat now.

I'm sort of saddened though that after the release of the SDK you still are limited what you can reskin due to regiments sharing certain parts of the models.

Somebody should work on a fix for that if they can as a seperate mod if possible.
 
Well the thing is I could create a new item and have the units spawn with it, but then I don't think you'd be able to connect to servers, and NW is 100% multiplayer oriented, so I want to keep the mod practical for the enduser.

I may have a cunning plan to overcome some of it. I will attempt to give Hungarian grenadiers which share pants with hungarian line and grenzers  White pants turning them into austrian grenadiers without affecting the others.
 
How will you do this. i have given white pants to them but now the grenzers and hungarian line have white pants to, which isnt too bad but the grezers look a bit odd? was thinking of changing their jackets but i like th brown jackets they wear
 
Guys i did it with the source code and it works normal with MP just use it there it wont affect anything as far as i know ive done this many time and getting ready for the greatcoats and what nots to add them in without colliding with other units

Edit the Module_troops.py and go down to the factions and you can customize them as you wish :smile: or even add your own model into it :grin:

Uuuuuh, nice information  :mrgreen:. Can I ask if is it easier to change by ms, or if you also can add some variants?  :mrgreen:

You CAN add another unit but you wouldnt be able to play NW (default) mp anymore cause thats a whole new mod then, only replace them :smile: its easier in MS id guess cause you can easily without changing name add the model rig it and boom add it in ms and replace a unit with it and there you easy as milk
 
editing the .py's and recompiling with new items added to the unit classes would make playing online useless, as far as I know, because when I tried that before back in 1.005 I would spawn with a bald-spot on my head where my hat was supposed to be.

Am I misunderstanding you?

You add to the unit a different uniform

Line infantry boots
nothing will affect MP

now adding a new unit into the game does affect it
thus france have alot of units adding a marines unit into the specialist tab would mean a whole new module

Dis another reason i dont make tutorials

Thanks for explain it Beta, I was thinking about doing a change in the voltigeur unit and don't make them spawn with those campaign pants... is that possible?
 
You can swap the pants with another pants thats possible adding another pants model also works but removing them fully will make the person look floating around xD

I'm lost now, right Austrian grenzers, hungarian line infantry and hungarian grenadiers all use the pants model "austrian_hungarian_pants"

you change it, it changes it for all three units. are you saying that there is a way to change the model for one without affecting the other like in the picture by using ms and it is still compatible with the mp.
