Custom banners for Warband

正在查看此主题的用户

Hi guys, first time posting.

I might have a solution regarding the prob. with people who have the native bannerpack only, ending up with clan banners. But it's gonna take some help from dev's, lots of extra work for Timothy and loss of plenty personal banners... Probably not the most popular first post. ;-p

1. New rule, clan-banner only.

2. Reduce number of clan banners to 60, and use the only the last 60 in the choose banner option in edit char.

3. Remove any insignia in the last 60 banners. Single colours only in native M&B warband. (in a new patch) Making it less probable that clanless players choose them.

4. Add an explainatory textline in the choose banner option. Explaining what the colour-only banners are.

This should be done very easily for dev. But probably means 90 % rearranging the bannerpack for Timothy, who's really been putting in an effort! And no more personal banners...

What do you guys think?

I think this is a good idea.  Alternately, if the devs would just add some blank slots for banners in the back of the list for clan use, that would solve the problem too (which is almost the same idea you had).

But there already is a banner in the pack for Einhärjar I made, which looks just like that without the sharp lines, as well as a shield for sigs. Guess you didn't notice. I also whipped up the shieldlings banner just now.

As for personal banners, I'd like them kept. Some people have great ideas for a coat of arms, but can't be arsed to make clans just so they can put their design to use. Besides, clan banners are priority. If the pack is full and a new clan request comes through, one of the personal banners is replaced.

Also, keep in mind that I personally oversee what goes into the pack. You won't see inappropriate material, at least nothing sexually loaded. There might be a few goofy banners, but those will be few and far between, and reserved for folks who've done something to distinguish themselves with their general silliness.

Excuse the double post, but an update should have a separate one. New banners:

Bohemian Guard clan
Shieldlings sister clan of Einhärjar
Damon Personal
doit182 personal
Mudcrab personal <updated>

Edit: Ah, yes. There was another banner requested by email by a doit182. I don't know his forum callsign, though.
Edit2: I guess I'm too tired at the moment. Forgot to mention that Mudcrab's banner is updated.

I know, but I just wondered that if I do make some minor changes to it and then post it, would you use it to replace the existing one?

But that doesn't matter. Yours is way better then mine.
I'm also glad to see that The Shieldings have their own banner.

If I could, I would send you a bottle of my home made Mead.
Thanks a lot.

If I may offer a suggestion (didn't notice if this has been posted yet), not everyone will be able to see everyone's banner even if they have the most up-to-date custom banner files because of localization. So if you're willing to do some extra work you could release the banner packs based on locality, namely US, EU and AU/Asia. That'll give you plenty more slots to fit in, and those who play only on their local servers will be able to see the banners of those he'll always meet in game and not have to have lots of banners from the other side of the world in their banner pack sitting unused by their original owners.

Anyhow, great work you're doing here, keep it up!
US/EU servers should have the same banner pack if that does happen, methinks. For a lot of people, US and EU are entirely playable, but bleh, 'sup to Tim I guess.

As for personal banners, why not? clans are nice and all, but diversity is more epic. When I do a clan battle for the Einharjar, I'll use that banner. Every other time, I'll use the John Cleese one that Servitor made for me and I edited.

...Hi Timothy the Knight, please can you make a personal banner with this image:...

...thanks^^,

What is this you say about localization? As far as I know, warband has the same internal files in every region of the world. Unless you were thinking that people who frequent one region's server usually don't go into other region servers, I don't know what you're talking about.

But regardless of that, it would be too much trouble, and there are still folks who regularly visit other region servers than their own. Besides, Ruthven's got a tweak to add more banners if the pack gets full, but I'll employ that only when the time comes.

JabdiMelborn, I don't suppose you have a more heraldic version of a Gorgon's head?

I usually do forget that.  My American shows through much more than I would like.
Wait, I thought it was Christmas all year round in Finland?

No. Nope. Nada. Zip.

Not that I have anything against Linux, but I don't want that sort of blatant anachronism. People of the middle ages haven't ever even seen a penguin, how'd they be able to make heraldry incorporating it, let alone in such great detail? Not to mention in such an irregular pose, too...

True, but they've seen pictures of them. I doubt anyone could have made it to Antarctica and back alive in the ships the had back then, so no way for anyone to figure out what a penguin looks like or indeed that they exist.

A unicorn on the other hand is a pretty straightforward imaginary creature to dream up. Especially since there are creatures in India that sort-of resemble the beast we know form medieval folklore. It was indeed India that most of the stories of the unicorn come from.

Here, read the Wikipedia article on the subject matter for details.

an other try
no linux no strange penguin
it´s just an eagel

What about Ruthvens banner, then?
It's absolutely anachronistic to have someone's face on a banner.

I think we should lower the strictness of the banners just a tad.
