Apocal 说:jamoecw 说:@Apocal - he clearly meant muscle cuirass, after all everything he stated applies to such armor. though the connection to bannerlord is a bit strained. if he had said full plate armor (and thus the medieval period) then you are right in that he would be dead wrong.
Yo, I never said anything about plate armor.
yes you did, when you replied to someone that talked about plate armor.
Apocal 说:Honved 说:Pointing out "realism", and the arguments for and against, early plate armor in the period represented by M&B had its bad sides. Yes, it was next to impossible to cut with slashing weapons, and difficult to puncture with piercing weapons, but was easy enough to dent or crease with a heavy object that concentrated the impact on a small area.
I assume this was directed at me, but my remarks said nothing about plate armor. Mail, lamellar and scale were all effectively impervious to cuts while being not just readily available, but downright common in the era roughly depicted by Bannerlord.
given that in order for what he claims to happen on the body it would require little to no padding and no gap between the body and the metal of the armor, and the only armor i know of that does that is muscle cuirass. it was bronze as well leading it be easily deformed, and great swords were used by some of the better metallurgical cultures to cleave through armor and people, thus using great swords against armor was done during that time period. there were references to shields getting pinned to arms, something that didn't happen to my knowledge in medieval Europe, which is similar to him talking about muscles getting pinned.
once decent quality steel was produced in enough quantity scale and chain was used, which out performed the bronze plate armor in weight and difficulty to penetrate. perhaps there will be a Hellenistic faction?
