CTRL F5 cheat (AI control) won't work?

I really like letting my character run wild while I hold the view character button. For some reason, all other cheats seem to work, but not this one any longer. It worked before, and I am running Hundred years war and Narfs Plate, but just these two alone. does anyone have a solution? Is there at least a mod that could force an AI takeover at my whim? I appreciate any reply.
