Neat, though it's guaranteed that we'll have to spend at least an additional $300 on DLC just to get it to where Crusader Kings 2 is currently at.

They said they will not repeat the DLC/Expansions they did for CK2. Basically, it seems like they want to avoid some of the huge mistakes they made from CK2 that their audience did not like and would not tolerate again for CK3. This means the only things we have to worry about are the features they said aren't making it over from CK2, or rather the ones they did not mention beyond launch ideas as patches...such as merchant republics and nomads.  :???:

Third dev diary. I did not like the new system for warfare, at least how it looks from this perspective. I think CK2 had a good warfare mechanics, not all based on RNG but without good commander even greatest army had chance to fail. This time it looks like you can affect so many thing that it won't feel like you are on the edge most of the time.

I'm also not entirely sure of what to make of the new system, but this is a new entry and I can't expect them to keep pulling CK2's successes forward. They need to try new things. I'm just worried, from what I'm seeing, it is way too familiar to Imperator: Rome. Hopefully I will be proven wrong.

If not, it is still under development and they have time to fine tune it.

I like that the levies are now its own, rabble type of troops reinforced by professional army, but I do wonder how adaptable it will be as a system. The general feeling I'm getting is that they'll pack lots of stuff behind DLCs anyway, but then will defend them as major reworks of the whole thing (that will most likely be required).

I have zero faith left in Paradox and they will **** this up just like they ****ed up EU4 and HOI4 - and if you think they are not going to milk their fans through excessive DLC, you're deluded.
