So, chadz, the dev of cRPG recently released the source code: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,126175.0.html

Already a number of people on the cRPG subforum had made threads saying the combination of these 2 mods would be awesome. What do you all think? Persitent characters in a persistent world? I think it has nice possibilities if properly balanced.

ps: adding poll. Not necessarily the same exact system as cRPG, but something where there is some type of character progression at least.

I think it would be awesome but without the weapon/armor select on a diferent window... i mean we select our armors when we start the game and weapons in the game and we take from the cRPG mod the level up and stat sistem... I say yes, you should put a voting sistem :razz:
 
I wouldn't particulary enjoy it... besides even if there is a leveling up / stat upgrade system some players could be alot higher than thoose who aren't and that wouldn't really be balanced... besides i like the mod how it is and to implement the crpg mod into PW I just don't see them combinding...
 
The idea of this mod is that you need to be carefull with your life, if you die you loose your stuff, it is more about roleplay then grinding items and owning everyone with better stats.

A big NO from me.

No, that was fixed ages ago - now there are no restarts, everything is updated instantly.
I say no to cRPG being integrated into PW - cRPG is good, but I don't like the idea of it being in PW.
 
I Would say Yes, but make another mod...Do not take PW from us!!
Chadz and Laszlo should work together on a new mod with the char system from cRPG and the RP from PW, i think that mod would be kinda great!!
 
HMmm not a good idea.

XP would take the focus of RP even more then it already is. How many people do you know in cRPG who RP?
 
Meh, I can't really see those two mods working together. Stats would lead to weird results rp-wise, too.

Oh wow...Some of the points you guys said made me change my mind. Too late I already said yes  :sad:

So...Yeah, I REALLY say no. This mod is about RPing, and from what I've heard, cRPG is not about this. So, I believe (now I do) that this would not be good at ALL.
 
No, unless you modified it to make it less grinding. Maybe add a permanent death feature so when you die, you lose all your stuff and exp, but make it easier to gain it then cRPG. Thoughts?

Now there's a good idea! I like this -- to obtain exp as you would obtain gold, and then lose it when you die. That's both an incentive to play well and to stay alive.
 
Well yeah, obviously it's not going to be the same system as cRPG. It could be anything. It could be like the old Enemy Territory where there was just a 4 levels per class that were easily reached, there could be caps, item limits, etc...The whole point is that since the sourcecode is released any type of progression system could be applied. It doesn't have to try and be singleplayer style xp system balanced for multiplayer, which is what cRPG is. Like I posted on that thread it would be pretty awesome to combine them even further, so perhaps when Last Days is released a possibility for a progression/persistent/lotr server for example would be possible.

If leveling is somewhat the same as in Enemy Territory (but even more speeded up perhaps, with caps?) and there is permanent death that would be a pretty fun system imo. I like that idea.

ps: some people here are way too reactionnary. I wasn't trying to turn persisten world into crpg, but take advantage of chadz's code to make something completely different. If lvls are more a mark of how well you survive than a game breaking advantage, I don't see anything particularly wrong with it in a roleplay context.
