Crossbows

I shot crossbows in real life and it rules (even though its extremely hard to aim)
But in M&B I personally can't work with em. They somehow never do as much damage as they say they should. With bows I am able to do way more damage. Am I using xbows the wrong way, I mean is there a certain way you have to use em to ge their full potetial??
plz help

Once you get to a certain power draw bows become so immensely powerful and quick crossbows are simply not worth it.

That said crossbows are much easier to use and deal more damage at lower levels, or if you're not becoming a specialist shooter. That's also the reason why specialist archer units such as the Vaegir Archer own other missiles in the game: they can fire quick, and they can fire hard.

The ones I shot were comparatively easy, but then again I am comparing them to bows, which feel kind of random to me, so it may just be me. Gotta remember to keep your fingers out of the way of the strings with crossbows, though ... yeouch.

Anyway, Jean says it all. The only time I use crossbows is when starting and I'm still squishable, as a way to kill murderers and such without having to get close to them; later on a bow's usually better in just about every way. Tempted to try out siege crossbows sometime just to see what they're like.

The crossbows I shot were the ones you would find in a competition. (I was member of a crossbow club) But the one with the fingers I can totally relate to you

Yes. And not only should they do more damage, you should be able to use a normal crossbow on horseback too, instead of just light/hunting crossbows.

Ohh man, people are going to be complaining about Rhodok Sharpshooters more than usual if that happens. (But since I'm a crossbow using Rhodok, I will be thrilled)

Well, there already is a bunch of moany ****ers about how annoying and (not IMO) overpowering Khergits are.

You have to aim and make sure the crossbow is in complete balance, resp perpendicular to the vertical axis....and all that while kneeling or standing. The crossbows I shot were around 10kg heavy. So I call that kind of difficult. ( Compared to a gun or rifle)

What was the draw weight?

Yes, they need to be a bit beefed up....I mean, no matter how skilled an archer is - a crossbow is just a much more powerful weapon.

There should be a distinction between crossbows with wooden arms, and crossbows with metal arms. Wood crossbows should be quite quick to draw with your hands or a hook attached to your belt, but only slightly more powerful than a bow. A crossbow with metal arms should be twice as powerful giving it a far superior range (better than a bow infact) but should take twice as long to load as a wooden crossbow.

Bolt should be armour piercing also, which should make them much more effective than bows against heavily armoured targets.

Cheers
