Crossbow bolts?

I have been playing this ADDICTIVE game for about a week. Just registered and bought it.
I can't figure out why I can't use the crossbow. It says I don't have any crossbow bolts. Where do I get those.
I also ran out of food and haven't been able to find where.
Did a search in the forums for the Xbow bolts and can't find anything.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Also any info on good threads to read since I am fairly new. I already printed out the maps for merchanting and the cheat stuff. Although I have 2 players. One for cheats (to have fun and mess around) and another (Xandian) to play regular.

Leodan: Crossbow bolts can be bought at the smithy, they are just called bolts. And food can be purchased from merchants, the foods you can eat are grain, fish, and meat. You can also slaughter horses for meat by placing them in the food slot.

Thanks. And I kept looking for that triangle food I began the game with!!!I thought the other stuff was for selling.
Off to go try out the crossbow!

I wish that there would be bolts with +2 and +3 damage bonus like the arrows, not only 1.

Absolutely every merchant in every city sells at least one "triangle" of food
